I have a whirlpool GT4175sps2 microwave that stopped working. Everything on the control panel works fine including the timer but the turntable and fan does not work. Even the light inside the unit comes on as it normally does when heating and the reminder still continues to beep when finished.
Just an update. It appears to be the lower door latch switch that is bad. I checked all three switches for continuity and the lower one failed. After I pulled it out I noticed that the plunger is stuck all the way in. I will try changing the switch and see if that fixes the problem.Just an update. Possible that the belt has failed, or the motor is not working or that there is no power from the control panel to the motor. You need to remove the bottom panel to observe this and confirm.
The problem is one of three things, the magnetron is defective "common issue" or the high voltage capacitor and diode may be a factor, repairs could be close to a new microwave oven.
If and when an oven
is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and
can result in a fire.
So until it is repaired,
please leave it unplugged or leave the door
open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running
unattended.

We see (and repair) this
a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which
we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a
week.
At
our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
This light failure often
occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament
shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first
unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a
failure on the controller.
The lights fan can be
inoperable or stuck on or no bright, too. Sometimes this will similarly
affect the exhaust fan operation, too.
Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your
full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

It's possible that the module that produces the microwaves is failing. The parts are cheaper but the labor may not so get an estimate before deciding if it's worth repairing or replacing.
you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt

I changed the switch and it did indeed fix the problem.
