How do you activate the turntable on the whirlpool wmh1163xvo1

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly,

The turntable motor is supposed to run anytime the unit is heating. If it is not turning the turn table motor most likely has failed. It is located on the very bottom of the unit.
See this diagram item 7:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5512685&diagram_id=28123343#d28123343
Also check the spline on item 6 of the above link.
The motor has a 2 wire connection and 2 mounting screws.
I think the motor has most likely failed.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My microwave does not heat anything. The touchpad, exahustfan, light works. The motor turns on and turn-table works for the number of mins specified but does not warm up the stuff. Please help!

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

Whirlpool MH1140XM: has power, but no heat, turntable not spin.

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

Turns On by itself

Replace it. I work in sales for Whirlpool. It sounds like the door switch is either sticking or shorted. Also because your turntable continues to run it sounds like a short. Microwaves are a unit we only recommend an authorized technician to work on due to the microwaves it uses.

The cost of a new one is usually easily half or more the cost of repairing it.

Average service call just to give you an estimate is 80-90$

Whirlpool Microwave no longer heating

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. It is the magnetron that generates the microwaves that heat the food. If it or the circuit that powers it fails then it stops heating. There are some high voltage circuits that feed the magnetron and you can potentially get hurt if you don't know what you are doing. Would recommend you have it serviced by a professional if you want it fixed, otherwise look for a new one since the cost of repair can come close to the price of a new microwave oven.

Can't get light bulb cover off in Whirlpool oven

The only thing i can suggest it to tap it lightly with the handle of the screw driver to see if maybe it is cross threaded. some are hard to get off.. so maybe try using one of those jar opener pads to get a better grip to turn it.
