SOURCE: Digital display is blank in GE Profile fridge

Hi. Its either a bad motherboard or control board. I would check the control board for any obvious signs of damage to the board first. I've seen the control board go blank on the GE side by side and it turned out to be the motherboard. The motherboard is located behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator cabinet. You should have a new motherboard on hand at all times because they fail alot. Be sure to put a surge protector on your refrigerator. Good Luck, Mack

SOURCE: Freezer not staying cold in the hot weather

Same problem with GE Profile bottom freezer drawer fridge in Peterborough Ontario.

Repair man was here Friday and says the problem is ususally the circuit board not turning on the fan loacted at the back, bottom right corner when facing the back. It cools the coils located in the botton of the unit. Check if it is running. If not an external fan will help until the service man arrives.

But this didn't solve my problem. After he replaced the board it was fine for a day. But now, Saturday evening, the freezer is 20 degrees F and the fan is running! So there must be another problem. Dave

SOURCE: Freezer not staying cold in the hot weather

Same problem as all of you. Mine happened at 17months old, not covered under warranty and cost just under $400 to have them replace the circuit board. Top of the line fridge and it is just junk! I am reading on blogs that there is a recall on these circuit boards but no one has yet to find where to call to get a free one. GE shouldn't be charging people to repair something that was bad right from the beginning whether it is past the warranty, or not. I just can't even underestand how you buy a top of the line product and you have a problem before it is even 2 years old.

I also bought a GE microwave at the same time, again, top of the line, $400 piece of junk, which I have also had nothing but problems with. It needed a new circuit board also within the first 6 months of owning it. That one was covered under warranty. Oh, and get this, the repairman had to order the circuit board rather than get me a new fridge because he says "this microwave is obselete now", are you kidding? it's 6 months old.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AGAIN!

This is my second attempt. I have a GE Profile

After you set it, the display goes back to showing the current temp. Just wait awhile and current temp displayed should change to the temp you set once it has had a chance to adjust. Give it a few hours.

Freezer temp on GE profile French door fridge was rising rapidly. I believe I did not shut the freezer door tightly after retrieving something about 9pm. Outside of freezer on sides of fridge was very...

This is by design. It should be warm. This is where the heat exchanger is located to save space.

No worries.... right now it is being over-worked until it reaches operating temp.

GE French door profile freezer is not freezing

Call the service company back and make them fix the problem, period. If they said that would fix it then they just bought the repair no matter how much it costs.

I have a ge profile fridge model # PDS22SHRBRSS needing help

Yes, you have to cut the wiring as the instructions stated. Not all the models have to have wiring cut, so read carefully to see if yours is one that needs to have the wiring cut. If it is not, then you have another problem, and you will have to let us know what the origional problem was before you replaced the board. If your model requires cutting, you may have damaged the main board by not doing this. Unplug the refer and follow the instructions carefully and test to see if it works. Good luck, Appliance Specialists.

Freezer temp won't go down to 0 and fridge temp won't go down to

You will need to look into the back panel in the rear of freezer to see if frost is building up. If yes the defrost heater and defrost thermostat may need to be replaced. Most times once you remove the rear panel and defrost with a hair dryer you will be able to see the defrost heater. It has glass around the heating element and will be easy to spot if burned out. Let me know what you find and I will be back later with part numbers and photos. Your model does not have a defrost timer like most others. It's built into the motherboard, Sea Breeze

Freezer temperature is not consistent

No recall that I have on my listing for that model. Keep in mind that the refrigerator goes into a defrost mode that lasts up to 30 minutes. It happens anywhere from 10 hours to 60 hours of operational time. When this happens, it's not uncommon to see 20 ° temperature. If you check it again an hour later, it should be back under 10 °. Also, double check to be sure the condenser coils are really clean. That alone can also cause this sort of symptom.

Not cold enough

I opened the bottom panel at the back of the fridge and cleaned the coil because it was completely covered with dust and lints and less than an hour later the fridge side temp started going down and the freezer took five hours for the temp to start going down when we didn't open it for that much time. It's back to factory setting now and thanks for the blogs that I read that I was able to try different possibilities. Your site is very helpful.

Evap motor runs when in defrost but when you close freezer door motor stops running. Do you think it may be the computer board. The customer is advising one morning temps in freezer was at 30 degrees then...

Air temp in freezer could be up if unit is in defrost cycle, but temp of packages would not vary much from such a short temp increase. Fan will turn on if door is left open for several minutes to prevent damage from freezer light bulb heat. By the way, this is a Fix-Ya to a fellow servicer.

GE Arctica Profile getting too cold, temp set to 37 actual temp is 25-35

Wow, so you dropped some money into it, eh? I would take a look at the damper door asslb(DIFFUSER). located at the very top left of your refrigerator section in back. It has a motorized door that opens and close's and it may be stuck open. More than likely it is broken and needs to be replaced. GOODLUCK!!!!

FYI: All your cold air in your refrigerator comes from your freezer!
