SOURCE: Digital display is blank in GE Profile fridge
Hi. Its either a bad motherboard or control board. I would check the control board for any obvious signs of damage to the board first. I've seen the control board go blank on the GE side by side and it turned out to be the motherboard. The motherboard is located behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator cabinet. You should have a new motherboard on hand at all times because they fail alot. Be sure to put a surge protector on your refrigerator. Good Luck, Mack

Same problem with GE Profile bottom freezer drawer fridge in Peterborough Ontario.
Repair man was here Friday and says the problem is ususally the circuit board not turning on the fan loacted at the back, bottom right corner when facing the back. It cools the coils located in the botton of the unit. Check if it is running. If not an external fan will help until the service man arrives.
But this didn't solve my problem. After he replaced the board it was fine for a day. But now, Saturday evening, the freezer is 20 degrees F and the fan is running! So there must be another problem. Dave

I am experiencing the same problem with my GE fridge. We have already tried the Turbo Cool, but nothing seems to help.
Thanks
Carol

Same problem as all of you. Mine happened at 17months old, not covered under warranty and cost just under $400 to have them replace the circuit board. Top of the line fridge and it is just junk! I am reading on blogs that there is a recall on these circuit boards but no one has yet to find where to call to get a free one. GE shouldn't be charging people to repair something that was bad right from the beginning whether it is past the warranty, or not. I just can't even underestand how you buy a top of the line product and you have a problem before it is even 2 years old.
I also bought a GE microwave at the same time, again, top of the line, $400 piece of junk, which I have also had nothing but problems with. It needed a new circuit board also within the first 6 months of owning it. That one was covered under warranty. Oh, and get this, the repairman had to order the circuit board rather than get me a new fridge because he says "this microwave is obselete now", are you kidding? it's 6 months old.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AGAIN!
