SOURCE: OKI B4600 Printer will not print = error - paused
Does it have a control panel or buttons on the printer itself?
If so, are any of them blinking or red?
Sometimes an error will cause a pause in the printer and you have to press one of the buttons to get it to start back up again.

This is the link to the manuf. website. I did a search on your model, theres a few so i guessed. but the manuals are available along with drivers.
I suggest you go and update them and go through the PDF and see if there is anything partaining to this issue.
I went through the PDF a bit and didnt see anything partaining to the PAUSE issue but try going through and see if anything is it.
On the printer icon on the bottom right of your task bar, right click on the printer icon and see if you can select CANCEL print job, then try unpausing it. Also, power off and then power back on and see if that clears it.
You may have to un-install the printer and re-install it and update the drivers to clear it.
Sometimes a Print job will get stuck in que when theres a jam or something and it wont continue till the issue is resolved, then you open and close the top cover and that resets it, it rechecks then continues.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Waste ink absorber
hi i am a certiffied Canon repair tech for this model. this is true this will reset the error but doing so without replacing the waste asorber pad in the bottom of the machine will cause your machine to backup waste ink into the the printing area of the machine and will start smuging ink on the page. the waste absorber is fairly cheap but the labor varies from shop to shop. there are independent Canon repair shops throughout the world. you can call 1-800-ok- canon or look on the canon website. hope this help to clairify.

uninstall your printer and then re-install it that should fix your issue,it could be a bad version of an updated driver that is causing the problem

By UI do you mean RUI (Remote User Interface)? Have you installed a network kit? If so did you upgrade firmware using SST? If not, you need to do this or printing won't work.
In service mode. Copier > Display > Version > PS/PCL there needs to be a number e.g. 30.06. If there is no number the copier does not have any print drivers on it and won't be able to print. You also need to have a N BOOT-ROM (included in network kit). There Should be a N next to the number for BOOT-ROM under Copier > Display > Version if a N BOOT-ROM is installed.

Did you install the software from the CD or did you download the driver? Are you using Snow Leopard?
If you have Snow Leopard and used the CD, you don't have the most recent drivers. Here is the link to the MP640 drivers. Remove the drivers currently on your imac and download and install from here, including the scanner driver and the MP Navigator (listed under Software).
