This error normally comes when the Step Motor is Defective. It needs to be repaired. It is a Part associated with the Scanner Assembly. But before going for repair, try to re-install the Driver and the whole software of the printer. This may also solve the problem.

Sorry to ask u ,how old it is,this kind of problem is found due to following reasons

1)driver software:uninstall n reinstall driver
2)scanner is dusty:clean the scanner from inside
3)inner scanner cable(black cable) defective:replace cable

but before all try this
1)go to my computer,u can see icon of scanjet 2400
2)right clk,clk get pictures.....,new window will open,
3)click preview n wait n see does it shows the preview?
4)if it shows preview then reinstall hp director,or try above mentioned steps,definately the problem will be solved,

How can I solve this error code(IR1600) on my canon copier by myself?
