I looked through the peep hole in front of my gas dryer and I don't see anything lit.Dryer spins great, but doesn't heat up. What is the problem?

Igniter - The dryer's igniter is what ignites the gas that has entereddryer-ignitor.jpg through the gas valve. It will glow red, then when it reaches a certain temperature, it will trigger a thermostat that opens up the gas valve and that's when the dryer starts to heat the air. If the igniter has failed, the motor will still run but not produce any heat.

My dryer spins and heat just a little but not enough to dry any clothes

Need to change the heater filament. The heater filament has several portions to produce heat. As it ages, some portions are not producing heat anymore hence the total heat produced by an old filament can not put out as much as originally designed.
