If the problem appears when printing a page from the computer, it is most likely a bad drum unit in the machine. The only way to fix this is to replace the drum unit itself. On your model, I believe the drum is part of the toner cartridge.
If the problem appears when you make a copy by placing your original in the feeder but not when printing from the computer, then the problem is dirty optics. The next step in troubleshooting the problem is to make a copy off the glass, bypassing the feeder. If the line is still there, you will have to open up the optics and clean it from the inside. If the problem goes away, there may be something on the "**** glass" of the machine.
The "**** glass" is a small strip of glass to the side of the main piece of glass that you lay your copies on. It will be a strip that is separated from the rest of the glass, and is about 9 inches long by about an inch wide. This should be cleaned really well to insure good copies. Do NOT spray glass cleaner directly onto the glass, as it will run under the glass and cause more problems. Use a high quality lint free towel and spray the cleaner onto the towel. Believe it or not, an old T-Shirt is excellent for this.
I would suggest cleaning all of the glass on the printer on a fairly regular basis, depending on your usage levels. For most home office users, this would be about once a month, for professional usage in a normal office environment, I would clean it about once a week.

The first thing I would try is to fix the corona wire. Here is a link to Brother's website outlining the process (clean corona wire).
What you need to do is pull out the drum and look for a blue tab on the top of the cartridge. Slide that tab back and forth along the wire and see if that clears things up.
I have had some luck cleaning the drum when I get black streaks but I have also hear this can be dangerous and make the problem worse.

My problem was that the corona wire cleaner was not tucked all the way to the side. Wherever the wire cleaner was, there was a big black streak. Corona wire cleaner on my 2270dw is behind the drum. Thanks cirvuedoc for the *hint* to fiddle with the corona cleaner!!!!!!!

I have a LexMark C752L. when i go to print first thing in the morning i get a 3/4" verticle stripe on the right hand side of the page. With each page i print this stripe gets less noticable until it...

Based on your description I would assume this has something to do with the Transfer belt, where in the cleaning blade of the belt is already worn or defective.
You may need to replace the printers transfer belt unit.
For further diagnosis and assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support.

Heavy black stripe on back side of every printed page

This is probably due to miss alignment, there is an option of test page which will be scanned to allign the cartridge, if ur's a all in one printer. This test page is printed at the first time and scanned instantly for first time operation.

Thankyou

First you make sure is not the toner cartridge causing the problem.

I get this blue stripe down the right side of the page whenever I print in colour. When I print in black and white the colour is not even but there is no blue stripe.

Open the doors to locate and wipe off the green shiny roller really well. Spin it and wipe it off all the way, especially on that right side. Pull out the cyan toner and wipe it around where the toner comes out. Check other rollers for blue marks and wipes those off as well. Lit free cloths work best but I just use a damp paper towel and then a dry one.

Each time I print a page, There is a perfect black strike

I would remove the drum unit, and check to see if this same stripe is visible on it. If so, replace drum unit. Please don't try to clean it, like so many people do- if it's dirty, it's done!

Pages printing blank

Resolving white, light lines or streaks (eliminate light stripes)

From the printer, print the Troubleshooting Print Quality Pages.
With Troubleshooting highlighted, press the OK button.
Scroll to Print Quality Problems by pressing the Up or Down Arrow button. Press OK.

Scroll to Troubleshooting Print Quality Page. Press OK.
Evaluate the Light Stripes Test page for missing printhead jets (missing cyan, magenta, yellow or black color bars).

Clean the maintenance unit's wiper blade and empty the waste tray. A dirty maintenance drawer wiper blade can cause white lines and weak or missing printhead jets. Using a clean lint-free cloth or a paper coffee filter, gently clean the blade with a wiping motion across the entire length of the wiper blade.
