Cleaning Area I keep getting this error message on my Canon Imagerunner 3300 about every 2-3 weeks stating that the original scanning area is dirty. This in turn causes lines on my copies that are processed through the feeder. If I clean the glass, then the lines go away for a couple of weeks. I've noticed that there is a line etched on the scanning area but a co-worker doesn't seem to think this is causing the reoccuring lines. Does anyone else have any ideas why I'm getting these reoccuring lines and is there a way to fix it permanently?
Try dusting the feeder out with compressed air. Then clean the glass with a flat razor blade to get any stubborn gunk that glass cleaner won't get. then spray a rag with streak free glass cleaner and rub the glass strip several times. good luck.

Repeating dots are usually the result of foreign material on the drum charge roller or toner adhesion (like a little smashed melted blob) on the developer cylinder. You can clean the charge roller with water. To clean the dev cylinder, wipe the toner off the area, then use strong alcohol to clean any area with the little "blob" buildup. Rotate cylinder and repeat for any remaining. You can usually see the area before you wipe it by looking for a darker spot on the dev cylinder than the rest of the coverage area. Copies will look bad at first after cleaning either. Just run about 20 or so copies.
Scan platform in english is Were you shove the stuff to send ;) ie dirty feed roller, paper detect switch stuck or fragments of paper in original feeding paper path area or feeding stuff too thick or stiff, or if multi document issue it is the pad or roller that sits under the main feed roller...al this is nothiong to do with paper tray full of blanks it is the original feeler area on top..
Same error should occur doing local copy, check feed section/roller
