Can I generate an activity report that shows the number from which an incoming fax orginated? If so, how do I generate the report? The Canon fax/copier is an 8000 series.

ACTIVITY REPORT

The FAX is factory
set to automatically print an ACTIVITY REPORT after every 20

transactions. If you want to print an ACTIVITY REPORT before it is automatically

printed, follow this procedure:

Transactions in an ACTIVITY REPORT are listed chronologically.

1 Press Function.

2 Press Report.

3 Press OK.

• The FAX prints an ACTIVITY

REPORT.

• If you prefer the FAX not to print an ACTIVITY REPORT after every 20 transactions,

disable the ACTIVITY REPORT setting ( p. 14
5).

• Please note that only one transaction number (TX/RX NO.) is assigned when you send

a document to several fax numbers in one operation.

Possibly. The Fax Journal has the last 200 faxes (incoming or outgoing). Press Menu then select Fax (up and down arrows). Press Set, and use the navigation keys until Setup Reports or Report Settings appears. Then press Set and use the navigation keys to find the Act. Interval or Journal Period. Press Set again and a length of time for the Journal (anything but off). Press Set again. (If you use the 7 day count-down, you will get additional queries for day of week and time of day for the start of the count-down.) Press Stop/Exit and the Activity Report will print when 200 faxes are in memory, the memory is full or the desired time frame. (The setting of 50 faxes will print at every 50 faxes.) After printing the report, these entries will be deleted.

(if the report was already generated, you won't get the old entries. Similarly if the memory was cleared after an Out Of Memory error, you won't find this entry. If Fax Storage was on, you may be able to actual get the original Fax. Menu > Fax > Remote Fax Opt > Print Fax or Print Document. Then Start and when all stored Faxes print hit Stop/Esc.)

1) on copier you have a button add. functions-something like *
2) with + or - trough the menu press OK at FAX sett. or under report sett.- If I recall its under Fax sett.
3) try to find report sett. then OK
4) you must enable the RX REPORT than OK


For transmision report you must enable TX REPORT

If the fax machine you send the faxes to is set not to show the ID (telephone number) it will not show the tellephone number in the activity report.If you use a telephone conected to the fax and you dail a number from the handset it will aslo not display a id on the activity report.

It's possible to print a Fax Activity report which would show both incoming and outgoing fax activity. To do this, do the following:

1. Press Reports
2. Use arrow keys < > to select 3. Fax Activity
3. Press Set

If Fax Activity hasn't been set up, do the following:

Setting the Fax Activity Report Interval
You can set the machine to print activity reports at specific intervals (EVERY 50 FAXES, 6, 12, 24 hours, 2 or 7 days). If you set the interval to OFF, you can print the report by following the Steps in the next page.

1. Press Menu, 2, 4, 2.
2. Press or to choose an interval,
   and then press Set.
   (If you choose 7 days, the LCD prompts you to choose a day at which to begin
   the 7-day countdown.)

To print a report:

1. Press the [Menu] button on the Control Panel, until Reports is displayed on the top line of the Display Screen. The Phone Book menu item will be displayed on the bottom line.
   
   
   
   
2. Press the right or left arrow button to scroll until the report or list you want to print is displayed on the bottom line.
   • Phone Book: Phonebook list
   • Sent Report: Sent fax report
   • RCV Report: Received fax report
   • System Data: System data list
   • Scheduled Jobs: Scheduled job information
   • MSG Confirm: Message confirmation
   • Junk Fax List: Junk fax number list
3. Press [Enter] to print the selected information.

Your machine can print reports containing useful information. The following reports are available:

• Phonebook List: This list shows all of the numbers currently stored in the machine's memory as Speed Dial and Group Dial numbers. You can print this phonebook list using the [Phonebook] button.
• Sent Fax Repor: This report shows information of the faxes you recently sent.
• Received Fax Report: This report shows information of the faxes you recently received.
• System Data List: This list shows the status of the user-selectable options. You may print this list to confirm your changes after changing any settings.
• Scheduled Job Information: This list shows the document currently stored for Delayed faxes or Toll Save faxes. The list shows the starting time and type of operation.
• Message Confirmation: This report shows the fax number, the number of pages, the elapsed time of the job, the communication mode, and the communication results. You can set up your machine to automatically print the message confirmation report after each fax job.
• Junk Fax Number List: This list shows up to 10 fax numbers specified as the junk fax numbers by using the Junk Fax Setup menu. When the Junk Fax Barrier feature is turned on, incoming faxes from those numbers will be blocked. This feature recognizes the last 6 digits of the fax number set as a remote fax machine’s ID.
• Multi-Communication Report: This report is printed automatically after sending documents from more than one location.
• Power Failure Report: This report is printed out automatically when power is restored after a power failure, if any data loss occurs due to the power failure.

NOTE: The lists you have set to automatically print out will not print out when there is no paper loaded or a paper jam has occurred.

Yes,it means the fax did not go through,it will show OK on the report if it was succesfull

There is no way to reprint a fax once it's received. The report is all you can get.

Most machines will prnt an "activity report" ACT showing both Transmission TX and recieve RX.
If you got far enough to print the transmission report you you should see an option for activity or RX report.
Without the make and model all I can say is you are likely on the right track.
