When i set it on carpet instead of bare floor it is hard to push when i vacume (when i turn nob it only has two settings floor and carpet no high pile or low pile)

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties using your DC14 on this particular carpet. You may want to contact your carpet manufacturer to check it's suitable for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a revolving brush. Manufacturers sometimes recommend cleaning certain types of carpeting using suction only.

If you have any further queries about using or maintaining your Dyson vacuum cleaner, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Pushes hard over the carpet and left lines in the new carpet. My father pulled it backwards and seemed OK. It just pushes extremely hard forward. The Dyson is about four years old and have not had any...

Check the axles of the wheels for debris accumulation. Also, make sure the height is set for the type of carpet that you have. Try pushing the machine on a bare floor--is it hard to move there also? Hope this helps!

I have a Dyson Animal vacuum - about 3 years old - and the beater bar won't turn. I can't find my manual anywhere - any suggestions as to the cause?

There is a part under the knob that adjusts from bare floor to carpet that goes bad on these vacuums. I have an animal that is about 3 or 4 years old and I had it repaired last year( to the tune of $115.00), and it broke again in December, so I just bought a new one, tired of paying high repair cost!!

I have a Dyson Animal. Roller bar won't turn/belt intact

Actually, I'm the poster who said I have the same problem, but it turns out I have the DC07 animal, not the DC14, but perhaps the solution is the same for the DC14 and it doesn't cost anything! I called DYSON and they told me the clutch needed to be reset, so she had me recline the vacuum from its upright position, lay it on it's side, turn the carpet/bare floor dial slowly back and forth between the two settings about 6 times and it apparently reset the clutch and now the cleaner bar spins normally and there's no more loud grinding-type noises. She said if that didn't work, the next step would be to remove the bottom protective panel (secured with the three large plastic screws) and lift the entire cleaner bar (do not remove the belt) out about an inch or so and then reinsert it and reattach the bottom plate. I hope this helps your problem. Good luck.

My Dyson Animal 14 beater brush will not turn.

It MAY be a clutch issue. I had a similar problem with my DC07 Animal recently a posted a solution elsewhere on this site, but here's the summary. To reset the clutch on my model, recline the vacuum, turn it on it's side and slowly change the carpet/bare floor knob from one setting to the other about 6 times. This apparently reset the clutch and now it works fine. You may also wish to call DYSON. They're very helpful and walk you through troubleshooting before recommending servicing. Their number is 1-866-693-9766. They'll need your model and serial number (located on bottom of uinit).

Dyson won't go back into upright position to engage suction

The dyson.com website had a solution for this particular problem. Just press in a button in the area around the right wheel while lifting the rear of the vacuum up. This allows the base to roll forward enough to go back into the upright position. I did this and it worked. All fixed.
