Hey mhjw3,
I’m guessing the machine type is a FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW and you are failing with dc and or UC errors to the console in spin cycle. Is that correct? If you have DIY skills see this Post. and the second post for the step by step to repair the clutch in the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW.
Also look at the post I just replied to. From limited info I feel your are experiencing a clutch malfunction with your washer. If you want to dive in and can tolerate some down time I will try to help you DIY the fix. If a DIY fix is not your choice you can run the info in the post by a repair service and get a repair estimate so you can reach a decision point to repair or replace. If this is a clutch issue most DIY folks choose to DIY the repair and save big $. Post back if you have questions.

Washer rocks violently, how can I identify bad shock absorbers?

A washing machine with shock absorbers? Is this a front or top loader? Top loaders you pull the machine forward by grabbing the top of the back. This adjusts the self adjusters. Thanks

Maytag centennial top loader i left the lid open to soak some clothes and it drained on its own and now it is stuck in draining mode

Turn the machine off. Wait 2minutes close lid and start new cycle.
check to see if your drain hose is lower than the bowl....this will also cause the water to drain out

Maytag top loader will fill but won't do anything else.

Well everything has a lid switch on it (Gee thanks Ralph Nader).
Yours is hidden at the 12 oclock position of the lid switch. You must pop the top to get to the lidswitch. I have a single belt maytag service manual HERE on my blog

Hi - my maytag top loader FA5800AWW is stuck on wash cycle. it won't do the spin only and it is sometimes getting stuck locked.

I feel you have a Clutch issue Google this phrase ""Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" you will find the Service Manual in post 5 of that sticky.

Repost on that site in the Maytag forum and I will help.

My bravos top loader will not fill up with water. The water drains as fast as it is trying to fill up. As a result, the wash cycle never completes.

You must make sure the drain hose is above teh water level and not in the water in the "P" trap of the house drain. There must be air to prevent siphoning. The drain hose should not go more than about 12" down in the drain tube.
