Check the hose for any tears. At the very top, directly under the handle, there is a metal tube inside of the hose. Pull the hose downwards, while holding onto the handle to stretch the hose as far as it will go. Check the very top of the hose for a rip or tear. You may need a flashlight.
Ours had this problem, so I pushed the hose back up into the handle and squeezed clear silicone up in there. I taped it in place and let it sit; undisturbed for a couple of days.
We have here the user manual. The page 8-9 you will see the instruction for replace the power nozzle which shows how to desmandle the vacuum and you will find the power cord connetion point. A big advice use your camera to take picture every step you make and especialy before remove the wires since in any case you will forget anything when you will try to assemble it back they will bevery helpfull.
I Had the same problem with my model 79011...take the upright handle apart & you will see a pot-metal rectangular box midway down the lower section of the handle with wires on it & 2 hoses attached. This is the water heater unit. LET IT COOL IF YOU JUST HAD THE UNIT ON AS IT WILL BE HOT!!! Take the hoses off & carefully **** the inlets out ( do NOT probe more than about an inch in) with a piece of coathanger wire. Flush heater unit out by hooking a peice of hose up to the heater unit & blow into it to flush the loosened crud out. Hook it all back up & it should work like new! What happens, is the alkalis in the cleaning solutions react with the pot-metal & cause corrosion to build up, eventually clogging the unit, thus not allowing waterflow thru it. Built to fail just like all modern junk! ;) Hope this helps! Ross
Hi Jim,
SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here.
It is possible to take the end off and re-attatch (but its very fiddly and a real pain). You need to simultaneously push in the small oval pins on the side of the hard plastic part and pull the hose out. Be aware that there is 2 tiny springs inside and if they dont go back in the hose will not lock on. Once you have hose out simply cut out the bad part and reinsert to the end.
If this is too hard or some small parts go missing you will need a new hose.
You can get a new hose from NelsonVacuums.com.au
Depending on the age of your 2100, you will need to replace, the wand cord, the handle wiring and perhaps theh upper wand inner tube and handle as well. If you examine your cord contacts they will be blackened from slippage, so will the female socket they plug into. On and aging 2100 the 1/2 inch groove at the front of the chrome handle tube begins to wear and the metal inner tube clip under the thumb button of the wand develops play back and forth. The wand comes apart into 4 pieces, plastic sheath, upper and lower tubes and cord assy. If the hose handle groove is worn enough to allow in and out play, you will need to replace the handle, it's wiring, and at least the clip button on the upper wand as well as the wand cord. You will find these wand parts at a pro vacuum shop but if your hose is original you will need to go to an AERUS Electrolux repair center for parts. Post back with your results.
You have a reversible wand on the DC07. You have to separate the wand from the hose first, then turn it around and reconnect it. Once that is done you will be able to use the attachments on the end of the wand. You can also connect your attachments to the hose.
To separate the wand:
1) Take the wand off the back of the machine
2) Place one hand on the Handle and one hand on the gray flexible hose.
3) Push the flexible hose down. You will see a long metal rod appearing. Push until the hose clicks into place at the bottom of the metal rod.
4) You'll see a half-moon shape button with a picture of a lock on the solid gray plastic part at the top of the hose - push it, this will separate the wand from the hose.
5) Turn the wand around
6) Push the purple wand cap with the holes in it back, it exposes a short dark gray pipe, about an inch in length
7) Connect the hose to the short pipe
8) Attach your tools to the top of the metal rod and have fun
BE careful here. Do not fish a coat hanger in the handle. The original hose has a set of detachable handle componnets. There are two metal screws in the underside of the hand grip.Do Not pry. Once removed go to the suction dial area underside of the grip. Observe the plastic fingers near the dial. These must be reset in their " track " when reassembling the handle. Gently insert a small flat screwdriver between the rubber wiring contacts and the plastic tongue wraps around the socket. this tongue which extends from the hose handle adjacent to the metal tube. Work you way back to the hose area carefully separating the "hand grip cover" from the hose handle itself. Once apart remove the obstruction. Carefully clean the two brass rings looking for any pitting. If pitted, gently polish by rotating fine wet/dry sandpaper around the rings, then lube with vaseline. The matching contact fingers on the handgrip cover should be cleaned as well and gently tensioned to put a bit more presusre on the contact rings. Slide the handle ONLY onto the hose. Once in place the contact rings will be visible. Now you can work the handgrip cover back into place starting with the two tabs at the hose end below the contact rings. To seat the small fingers at the control valve gently click into place before reinstalling upper handle screws.
Yes, it is a ground wire. When you put it back together, make sure that the two halves of the hose handle are holding the wire up against the metal. I just had one apart the other day for the first time and if I recall correctly, the wire goes near the center for reassembly. Hope this helps!
