Re: The level selector light changes but not the levels....
Make model? Maybe jammed make sure no hair is wrapped around the brushes by removing them (look up your model online I'm almost sure there is a how to video on YouTube) and clean it of all tightly twisted hair usually found where the brushes don't exist but on outer edges where you can't see between the plastic side of the vacuum and the brush roller (looks like rolling pin) where the bolt is that the brush spins on...hope that helps

DC28's selector pad (located by the red on/off switch) allows you to select the correct height setting for the particular flooring you're cleaning. Patented Dyson Airmuscle technology will then raise or lower the rotating brush bar within the cleaner head to the correct level for optimum performance, or shut it off for cleaning bare floors or delicate rugs.
I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions or if you're having difficulty with your DC28, you're welcome to get in touch directly. You can reach our experts by emailing [email protected]
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC28. You haven't mentioned in your question whether your machine is displaying any indicator lights - these are designed to help you diagnose what the issue might be.
Generally, if the brush bar won't rotate, it may be because the brush bar is set too low for the type of carpet pile you're cleaning. Try raising it to the next available level to see if this helps. It's also important to keep the brush bar clear of any threads or hair, and to check the cleaner head is free of anything that could jam the brush bar - the video I've attached shows the correct way to do this.
Finally, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, or if you have the height selector set to 'Bare floors'. Make sure you have the machine reclined into the vacuuming position, and set to an appropriate carpet height setting once you've turned the vacuum on.
I hope this helps - if you find you're unable to reset the machine using the information I've provided here, please email your contact details and serial number to us at [email protected]. One of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible to take you through some further diagnostic checks. If a repair is needed, we'll be happy to confirm whether this is covered under the machine's 5-year warrranty.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. When you have your brush control set to 'Carpets', the brushbar should run when the cleaner is reclined into the vacuuming position, and shut off when you stand the cleaner upright. When you have the brush control set to 'Hard floors', it should remain in the off position until you change it manually back to 'Carpets'.
If it won't stay in the 'Hard floors' position during use, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so we can determine if there's a fault, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.
The brushbar is designed to stop rotating if you've set it at a level too low for the pile of the carpet you're trying to clean. The indicator light will flash to warn you of this. Using the cleaner with the brushbar raised to the next level on the selector pad should prevent this issue from occurring.
If you have any further concerns about your vacuum, please get in touch with us directly on 1866MYDYSON. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC33. If you're concerned that the brush control doesn't seem to be staying in position, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you to check everything is correct with your machine, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your Dyson cleaner. From your description, it sounds as if you have a DC28 Animal, rather than a DC17 Animal. If the cleaner seems hard to push, and an indicator light is flashing, you may have the brushbar set to a level too low for the carpet you're trying to clean. Try raising the brushbar to the next height available on the selector pad.
If you need any further assistance with your Dyson, please get in touch with us directly - you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.
I can not pinpoint what exactly solved the issue. I opened the bottom conver, cleaned any presence of hair, cleaned all hoses (yes hose was completely clogged), made sure that the brush bar was engaged by switching the selector back and forth few times from Carpet to Bare floor. (On bare floor setting, brush bar won't rotate).
Now I am happy that the vacuum is completely cleaned and back in operation!
Make sure that the carpet selector is on carpet setting not bare floor. It only spins on carpet setting. If carpet setting is engaged and still doesn't work you need a new clutch assembly.
