How's your setup for the scanner and two computers? Are you using a hub to connect the 2 computers at the same time to one scanner? Or are you connecting the computers one at a time?
You need to perform some troubleshooting for your two computers. Please follow the steps below:
1. Connect the scanner to your Windows XP computer.
2. Uninstall/reinstall the driver.
3. Make sure that the scanner's status is ready.
4. Try to scan.
If same problem persist, try connecting the scaner into different USB port of your computer.
Have a great day!
Hi,
So, you tried to reinstall the drivers ?

Can you see the scanner in Device Manager? Click on Start, right click on My Computer, then choose Properties... . Click on the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. Look for any ?'s or !'s that you see. Or, check for the scanner under Imaging Devices. Do you at least see the scanner device? If you do, then you've at least narrowed it down to perhaps an application issue.
What error messages do you get when you try to scan?
Thanks

My Scanner is a Nikon Coolscan V ED
Desktop Using Windows XP, & Laptop Using Vista.
Even though the Scanner is Listed in the Programs ,it is not listed in Imaging Devices
Regards Geoff.
The computers are not connected The computers are connected one at a time I have tried other USB ports
with nil success.
After doing all you suggest the scanner still does not scan ( The message on the computer is Nikon Scan has found a problem and will close down)
