The switch is curved so when you close the door the light will also close. How do you know if the light is on when the door closes?Try pushing on the switch and you will see that the light will close. If that is what you are asking. If you push on the switch and the light stays on then you have a faulty switch. hope this helped:)

The light in my freezer stays on when the door is closed.

I am curious how you know it is on unless you get inside. Some have magnet switches that will not cycle until the gasket seals.
tip

Lights on one side fridge not cooling.

mine fridge Viking VCBB363L Bottom Freezer Refrigerator.
Took a cell phone camera in video mode and put it in the fridge to see if the light was going out when the door was closed.
Turns out. it wasn't.
This causes the lghts on the left to go out. However, the light on the right stays on and warms up the fridge.
Solution.
Top section air grill. 5 1/4 hex screws.. remove the grill you'll notice door's light switch on right side. a steel spring attached to the switch. When fridge's hinge arm closes the arm pushes on this guy and pushing in the switch button and shuts off the lights.
you can move this with your finger.
In my case switch has a little purple button.
take two pair of 3 in needle nose pliers and CAREFULLY hold center of spring and bend the end nearest you to the left.
You don't have to go crazy Just a bit.
then get you camera ready and check out your work.
Results after you've succeded, replace your parts, and notice after 10 minutes the lights all come on, the alrms stop and the fridge cools normally.
and you saved 200.00

Gsc3pgxcfss warm fridge, freezer working fine, lights off in fridge

James, not sure I understand your message when you say both lights go off, but later say lights begin working. Do you mean they go off when you push the buttons at the door? And when you say no cold air comes from the freezer, is the freezer door closed? See if air begins flowing with freezer door open. If so it would indicate the return air path from the refrigerator to freezer is blocked.....damper staying closed or evaporator coil frozen up. The return air path has to be open to allow the freezer to keep sending out cold air to refrigerator when freezer door is closed. You might thoroughly defrost to make sure coil is not frozen.
If the door button for the refrigerator light is bad it can signal that the door is open all the time, so the freezer will never send cold air to the refrigerator. And that will be good news. Door switches are cheap. If you don't have a volt meter and know how to check switch, just remove the door switch from the refrigerator, leaving wires dangling, and close the door with a thermometer inside to see if it begins cooling (or just wait a while) I had that problem a year ago and was happy to find a bad door switch. More often it's a frozen coil, and that can be more expensive to fix. Sometimes you can discover a bad switch by pushing in the door button and the light stays on, but it doesn't sound like your situation.....sounds more like a frozen coil. If so, maybe all this extra information will help someone else.

The light is staying on when the doors are closed

Press the door swtich inside the fridge. If you press the door switch close and the lights still don't turn off then you have a faulty door switch. They are cheap to replace.

I now have the same problem: I HAVE AN LG FRIDGE MODEL LRFC22750. THE LIGHT COVER INSIDE THE FRIDGE MELTED DUE TO THE LIGHTS STAYING ON WHEN THE DOORS CLOSE. THERE ARE BUTTONS ON THE INSIDE UPPER DOOR...

LG has issued a service bulletin about this problem. You need to call LG or the ratailer you bought it from and tell them what's going on...the entire cost of the repair (parts and labor) should be covered....at least it was the last time I did one for a customer.

We have a Lg LFC25760SW fridge and the lights stay on in side the fridge

LG had a circuit board malfunction with many french door models with fridge lights staying on with the door closed. the bulb lens usually overheats; deforms; and falls off. the plastic frame surround is warped too. the bulb sockets are darkened too. if this is the case, call LG and they will usually repair this overheating issue for free. you can just unscrew the bulbs for the meantime.

We are getting terrible moisture on the top of the top panel (covering the lights) What would cause this and how can we fix it?

close the door of the fridge while youre snuggled inside to see if the light is staying on causing it to condensate around that area...

just kidding... to rule out the issue.. make sure the "button thing" is working to turn off the light when the door closes.. (you should be able to figure that out i hope)

only thing i can think of that would cause this is it being hotter then other parts of the fridge in that area.. and if it's covering the lights.. my guess would be just a dumb little switch that turns the light off.

Smeg Fridge light

What you need to locate is the door switch mechanism for the fridge. These are normally located towards the top of the door and protrude so that when the door closes the switch is pushed in. To find out if you have a problem with the switch just press it when the door is open and the light should go off. The switch itself can appear in various forms either as a protruding rod or a curved plate which pushes upwards against the door side when it closes. If I could draw in this section it could be better explained. But if you look around the inside of the fridge on the side away from the door hinge then you should find something you can push. Sorry to be this vague. If you do need a replacement switch they are normally quite simple to change depending on where they are located, most are two screws, or just a push in type. Hope this has been of some help.

Lg french door fridge

do you have mechanical button switch that should close the light if you close the door?... they could be defective. try to look for these button switch that the doors presses as you close them. if they dont have, then they may be using a magnetic door switch which would be very hard to locate and trouble shoot.
