My lexmark 3400series all -in -one, says the cover is open and
the power won't go off unless I un-plug it. I'v never had this happen
before when I changed the cartridge before. I know it is in place and
there is nothing blocking the cover from closing. It's like it is stuck
in this mode. I can't get it to do anything. Any suggestions.

(cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps

the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even
when the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:
1.
Unplug the printer from the power source.
2.
With the cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier
assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to
the center of the printer.
3.
Remove the used cartridges.
4.
Load the new cartridges. Close the cover.
5. Plug the printer back to the power source.

9. You can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
If cartridges are faulty, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance and see if they can replace it for you. Please provide them a Proof of Purchase for both the cartridges.

I have the same problem, I changed my cartridge and now my printer says "cover open". The cover is flat and the printer still does not work. Anybody found a solution.
