Ionic Breeze 1719

I just bought my ionic breeze 1719 in July at a Store Closing. I cleaned it one time and it hasn't worked since. The blue lights keep blinking. This product is a piece of junk. Any solutions on how I can get it to work again?

I have had two Ionic Breezes that just suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason, so I am obviously not a happy consumer. HOWEVER, I woudl dispute the idea that they are ineffective. They may not scrub the air as well as other units, but they have zero filter replacement costs, and close to zero power consumption costs, AND they do actually remove a lot of junk from the air. I can't say anything however about the relative percentages of what they remove, but it still seems that the air must be a lot better off without a lot of the very fine particulate that they do capture.

Sharper Image recalled the product line after losing a court case with Consumer Reports. They couldn't prove that they worked, lost the case, had to pay all the legal bills, and filed for Chapter 11.

Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to issue a report at the end of the year on all ionizers. Their decision could prevent the sale of them in the U.S. Even data on the EPA website shows that not only do they not work but they could be harmful to peoples health to use.

My ionic pro ca500 has the blue light on but also is making a intermittent sizzling sound, I have wiped the blades, the clean light is not on.

What does the blue light mean? I had 4 Ionic breeze air cleaners, ionizer wires are broken. I was thinking about buying the Ionic Pro cleaners, but have no input about how well they work.

I have a sharper image midi and the red light (cleaning overdue)stays on even after cleaning? Will it still work with the light on? My real question how to fix it

Same problem : after cleaning thoroughly inside by removing the Front& Rear Plastic grid and the stainless blades, I also cleaned the 2wires (very softly and carrefully, not to break them), but the Redlight goes on after only few minutes :

Here is my Solution :
1 - Turn on (Low position) although the Red ligt is on
2 - Release the Rear plastic Grid (or Front plastic grid, or both of them) : That stop the unit automatically
3 - Replace it and make sur it's well locked : the unit turns on automatically.

After that, my unit works well, no more Red light. Maybe it will work for you. I also found this other bit of information. Since then I have discovered a lot of information on the midi. Here is some more reading material that might interest you.

Could be a blade replacement needed but Sharper Image2.gifrecalled the product. Since it was proven in court that it wasn'teffectively cleaning the air by Consumer Reports as well as EPA data. As a result of the legal action, Sharper Image filed for Chapter 11.
Here are a few links about it:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008/02/sharper_image.html

http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.htm

Sharper Image was giving customers a small rebate for the product since it was proven to be ineffective for cleaning the air by Consumer Reports as well data by the EPA.

This has caused a mess for Sharper Image that they went into bankruptcy as a result of it. The Consumer Products Safety Commissionis going to be making a decision on ionizers at the end of year sincethere are hazards in the air from using the devices. It could be thationizers are no longer sold in the US next year.

The industry should have been regulated and unfortunately the government never did anything about it until Sharper Image and Consumer Reports went to court on it. The next step to do if you can't get it to work is to file a report with the company.

The Ionic Breeze would work for a short time after cleaning and the bluelight would start flashing again. We checked the wall cube power adapter with a volt meter. It was putting out only 10 volts instead of the needed 12 volts. It seems The Ionic Breeze needs a full 12-13 volts to work. So we went to Radio Shack and bought a universal 12 volt 800ma power adapter. I checked the voltage in the new adapter, it was 13 volts. This fixed the flashing blue light problem. The Ionic Breeze produces harmful Ozone gas, so we don't use it anymore.

Best wishes. Hope this helps you. If not please leave me a comment and I will do some more research.

The blue light on my ionic breeze is blinking.

The ionizers were recalled by Sharper Image due to a lawsuit that they lost forcing the company into chapter 11.

There is a thread on this website with further details.

Professional Series Ionic Breeze Tabletop

There isn't one. The reason why Sharper Image went out of business is because the Ionic Breeze was proven to be ineffective product and harmful to use in some cases based on Consumer Reports data as well as data from the EPA. They sued Consumer Reports, lost the case, and had to pay all the legal bills.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to making decision on all ionizers by the end of the year. It's quite possible that no one will be selling them anymore.

There is thread I left in the Ionic Breeze section about the EPA data on ionizers and the harmful effects of using them as well as a link about what happen to Sharper Image.

This product should have been regulated a long time ago. Orek and few others are going to be pulling the plug on them real soon.

No power.

there is a small micro switch that is actuated by the grid. This is mounted on the side of the top control piece. There are two wires attached to the little circuit board, usually one is corroded so you need to cut it back and soder it to the center pin of the switch.
