What does the blue light mean? I had 4 Ionic breeze air cleaners, ionizer wires are broken. I was thinking about buying the Ionic Pro cleaners, but have no input about how well they work.

Hello,

when you say there are no lights come on, do you mean it doesn't have any sign of power at all when you turn it on? If yes, then the problem is power related.

First, remove the unit power cord from the wall, wait for about 30mins, then plug it back in. It may have cool by then and should power on. If it doesn't power on, plug it into another outlet, to make sure there electricity entering into the unit.

If plugging into another power outlet doesn't power it on then the unit is most likely having a power problem.

When electric current comes from the power outlet into the unit, it goes straight into the power supply board which then circulates the current into the purifier. So if the fridge doesn't power on, the first thing is to make sure there is power entering into the unit.

So check the power cord, if it is a 3-pin plug, it must have a fuse in it. check the fuse if it is not blown. if fuse is intact, then power supply board should be checked.

If any purifier or electronics device doesn't power on, it means its having a power problem. It might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

I keep the blades clean. Really clean. I'm a smoker, and you would not believe the crud that accumulates on those "blades"... <g>

First, I spray the blades with "PurplePower" cleaner/degreaser (from AutoZone), then I wipe them down with a sponge, then rinse with hot water. then dry them with compressed air (I have a compressor...).

FWIW, "Windex" works pretty good too, but... the degreaser really works well on the cigarette "residue"..

Second, there are two long wires inside that also have to be cleaned, periodically.

If your unit has the "pull-tab" cleaner, use it. One of my units has it. The other two don't.

On the ones that don't have the built-in cleaner, I stick a chopstick in through the rear vents, and CAREFULLY rub it against the sides of those wires, which "scrapes" the "white crud" off of the wires. Take your time. You will likely have to "change locations" several times in order to access the full length of both wires.

NOTE: those wires are fairly durable, but BE CAREFUL with them.

Either way, after cleaning the wires, I then "blow" the unit clean with compressed air.

Voila! No more buzzing. Until the next time the wires get "crudded up".

These machines are designed to make no sound at all. They work on ionic charged molecules in the air, which causes the air to move through it.

There will not be great deal of air movement through the unit. If you feel air moving, it is working.

Give it a week of running. Then pull out the filter rails. They should be coated in a film of dust. This means the unit is working as it should.

When the clean light comes on, it means it is time to clean the filter rails. So this should not be lit yet.

From your description, it sounds like this is working.

10/6/10 I work for the Ionic Pro company. The unit is designed in such a way that it cannot blow out air continuously... it blows the air for sometime then it takes the air into the back and applies the purification process. Once inside the air is cleaned then it is blown out the front. This why some customers feel that it is not working... but in reality it still functions. As long as you have a power light and the air in cycling through the unit, it is working fine. If the unit still has an issue, you can call customer service at 800-875-8577. Thank you.

Un-plug the unit, pull the top piece of plastic off and lay it on its back. While its on its back a little peice of plastic drops and allows you to slide the ionic parts back inside..Try cleaning with regular shop and water and cotton towel..
