Faulty Memory Card

Hiya... have a sony digital camera that has been working fine up until recently.. Took about 60pics on a 128mb card on a 2.0 format......which should give me roughly around 80plus pics... Anyway, only about 20 photos are showing up on the card, either by looking at the photos through the camera itself or by downloading to the p.c.. the memory card itself is showing that the space has been used.....so where have the pics gone??? i did notice the other day, that after taking some photos....the camera screen went blank.....i couldnt power it off, unless i took the batts out...after that....the recent photos that had been taken had dissapeared, yet when you look at "photos left on memory card" is shows the same as before when the pics were there! hope this makes sense to someone!!!!! Basically its showing that space has been taken up....but doesnt have the photos to prove it. anyone with any idea! help would be much appreciated!!!

Sounds like the file allocation table on the card got screwed up. Try Googling Compact Flash Data Recovery. I know you're not using compact flash cards but the techniques for data recovery are pretty much the same regardless of the media. If and when you're able to recover what you can, I wouldn't use that card anymore myself. Good luck!

I took alot of pictures recently..seemed to be working fine and they didn't download to my memory card...are they in my D5o Nikon somewhere..

Sorry, no. The camera is entirely reliant on the memory card to store images.

Either the camera or the memory card is faulty. Try another known good memory card to work out out which item is at fault. If it's the camera then it needs professional repairs, if it's the memory card then buy another.

Never, ever, format your memory card in a computer or external card reader, reformatting should only ever be done in-camera with a fully-charged battery.

Recently purchased Sony Cybershot DSCW180. Took 3

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.
Thanks.

My sandisk memory stick pro duo wont work anymore

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.

I have a sony dsc-f717 took several pictures and now i get format error 13:01 and can't retrieve the photos I've took and veiwed. Help retrieving

1st, try and download the pictures via your computer and a memory card adapter. If you're computer doesn't recognize the card through an adapter,

2) go to www.ita.sel.sony.com
Search by the model number of the Memory Stick. There is Memory Stick recovery software. follow the steps for the download and recovery.

3) On new/blank memory cards, I sometimes have to format the MS in the camera first, then everything works fine.

Corrupt pictures?

Hi,
.Check the contacts on the memory card are clean, use a pencil eraser or qtip moistened (not wet) with isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts

The card may be badly fragmented if you delete individual pictures regularly, use the format function to clear the card or format it in a card reader on your computer

It may be a faulty memory card, try a different card

If the problem persists it may be a camera fault which will need to be returned to sony.

Memory card

Hi - no, the DSC-P7 isn't compatible with Memory Stick Pro, only original Memory Stick, meaning you're limited to 128MB/stick. Having said that, the P7 is only a 3.2MPixel camera, 128MB will hold quite a few pictures, even at full resolution.
