Hdmi ports not working

reset your playstation 3 video setting

Reset Video Output

If you are changing cables or cannot see an image on the screen, you may need to reset the video output to default settings. To reset the video output:
  1. While the PS3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the PS3 beeps a second time (approximately 5 seconds), then release it.
  2. The PS3 will power up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

My ps3 console signal isn't working but the sound works but there is no signal! not even a hdmi cable works help!

Try these tips to fix the so-called "black screen of death".

Tip 1: The main reason of HDMI black screen problem due to HDMI cable may be damaged and not properly connected to the PS3 console. Please follow below step to troubleshoot PS3 HDMI cables problem:

1) Restart your PlayStation 3.
2) Look for loose cables.
3) Try to unplug all cables except the power cord, and plug them back in. If you found out that your HDMI cable is damaged, borrow a friends cable and try it. If your friends cable works fine, and the black screen error disappears. Then you can buy a brand new HDMI cable for a replacement.

Tip 2: Only try as last resort. There is a possibility you'll lose all data on your PS3's hard drive. If tip 1 didn't work, you will need to go a step deeper and reset your console. Most PS3 gamers are not aware that Sony actually included a black screen of death troubleshooting method and other HDMI problems in the PS3 manual, you can find it under the troubleshooting section - topic "console reset".

If you do it correctly, the console reset fix will allow you to reset back your PS3 to its default HDMI settings without impacting your gamer profile, and other storage data on the hard drive.

You will need to perform the following steps:

1. Place your PS3 in stand-by mode.
2. Hold down the touch power button until a series of beeps are heard.
3. Listen for one long beep, followed by two shorter beeps.
4. Release the power button.
5. Follow the instructions on screen.

If it works you should be good to go.

Connecting Ps3 with philips tv (full hd) when i got hd cable in, and click to switch so the ps3 uses hd to show things and i than switch over to the channel i plugin the hdmi cabel it gives blac kscreen

If it's the first time using your PS3, use the composite cables that came with it. Turn on the PS3 go to video settings and switch the input to HDMI. After you've switched to HDMI, turn the PS3 off and connect your HDMI cable, go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If this isn't the first time you've used HDMI for your PS3, make sure your T.V. is on the correct input. If the T.V. is on the correct input, try switching the HDMI cable to a different input. If that doesn't work try using a different HDMI cable, testing different HDMI connections if you're still getting the black screen. If none of those work then it's probably a problem with the PS3, but just to make sure try plugging something else with HDMI to see if that works. If another HDMI device works, then it's your PS3, if it doesn't then it could be a problem with your HDMI connections on the T.V.

I plugged in my PS3 using an HDMI cable and i get no feedback

If you just bought the PS3 use your composite cables that came with the system. Turn the PS3 on and go to the video settings, set up video input to HDMI. After you've done that plug your HDMI back into your PS3 and try turning it on. If that works go back to video settings and change the resolution to 1080p. If that doesn't work make sure your T.V. is on the same input that the HDMI cable is plugged in. If it is and still doesn't work try switching to a different HDMI port. If switching to a different HDMI port doesn't work try a new HDMI cable. If the new HDMI cable doesn't work then there is a problem with the port on the PS3 which would require a repair.

My PS turns on Green light and all, but my television screen is showing only all black. . .what is the problem?

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor)..

If Resetting the Video Output Setting Did NOT Detect Your HDTV Automatically (Certain TV's Only)
With certain televisions, the PLAYSTATION 3 may not automatically detect the HDMI source (TV) which it is plugged into, even after resetting the Video Output Setting (as described above).

If resetting the Video Output Setting did not work, you may need to follow these steps to manually locate the HDMI source:

1. Connect both the AV Cable and the HDMI cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 to the corresponding (AV and HDMI) ports on your TV. 2. Proceed with resetting the Video Output Setting on the PLAYSTATION 3 again. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 3 below.)
3. Turn the TV channel to the corresponding "Input" or "Video" channel for the AV Cable connection.
4. Manually change the Video Output Settings to HDMI. (Follow these steps, then continue to step 5 below.)
5. Now switch the "Input" or "Video" channel on the TV for the HDMI port the PLAYSTATION 3 is currently plugged into.
6. Accept the display settings for HDMI before the timer runs out (30 seconds). Highlight "Yes" and press the X button.
7. You can now disconnect AV Cable from the PLAYSTATION 3 and the TV, as it is no longer needed.
