PS3 Disc not working

THE CD50 DOOR MECH IS BELT DRIVEN IF THE BELT IS WORN THE DOOR OPEN/CLOSE SWITCH WHICH IS TRIGGERED BY THE MAIN CAM UNDER THE MECH MAY NOT BE FULLY CLOSED OR THE SWITCH MAY NEED CLEANING,ITS A LEAF SWITCH.THE MOST COMMON REASON FOR THE DISC TO SPIN BUT NOT READING DISC IS DISC MOTOR NOT GETTING UP TO CORRECT SPEED.IT CAN BE REMOVED,DISMANTLED AND LUBRICATED BUT CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO MEASURE THE TURNTABLE HEIGHT,BEST MEASURED FROM THE BASE OF TURNTABLE TO CHASSIS WITH FEELER GAUGE,CAUTION THE MOTOR SHAFT HAS SEVERAL VERY FINE WASHERS INSTALLED DONT LOSE THEM.

Make sure that you do not have the PS3 on it's side. Lay it flat. Insert a MOVIE DVD first and see if it will recognize the disc.
If you continue to hear a grinding sound when the ps3 is laying down that could only mean one thing, you need a replacement drive.

Dont forget to Always update your Playstation to the newest firmware.

the playstation 3 tends to have quieter disc spins have you tried taking all the cords out of the back and putting them back in (sometimes it seems even with power cord out will draw some power from TV so ALL cords) and check using multiple games

Hmmm mayby wash the disc and dry it CARFULLY and if you PS3 stands up it has a harder time playing games...

It is a high possibility that your lens went, next time you insert the disc. Listen closely to hear if it is not spinning or is spinning slow.

9 times out of 10 the issue is going to be one of the two motors that are in the player. Either the motor that moves the lens or the motor that spins the disc. You should be able to hear a difference in the sounds the two players make when you insert a disc. If it is the motors you will hear clicking noise, similar to a dying hard drive. If ther motors work, you will hear the whurring noise of a spinning disc.

there mite be something jammed inside the disk drive take a look inside to see if theres anything inside if so just pull it out with something long and thin that dosnt conduct electricity.

Hi my name is Juan and the problem you got is with the bluray laser lens they have stopped reading games you can check this out put a cd on your ps3 and at the same time place your ear on top cover and will heard 3 clicking noises of the laser but make no noise because this clicking noise is so fine that you need to make no noise it goes click click click you will hear it but make sure you put your ear on top cover at the same time you insert the disk it takes about 3 -4 seconds for the clinking noise after you have insert the cd some lasers they do try to read and they make the disk to spin off and on some they do make the disk to spin normally but nothing happen and the solution is to replace the laser lens I am a ebay trusted power seller and I can get you one if you want to

The coggs inside need realligning,

if its out of warrently, just simply go on you tube to find out how to take the blu ray apart, i done it and its fine now.
