Mosfet 50wx4 indicates a feature of the Pioneer car radio. It isn't a model number. One Pioneer car radio/CD player with this feature is the DEH-1500. On this model, you need to turn off the unit to set the clock. Press and hold the Source button (to the left of the preset tuning buttons) until the device turns off. Press Audio (upper right corner) repeatedly until the clock appears in the display. Use the arrow keys (Skip/Back or Left/Right) on the right hand side of the radio to select a segment of the time to adjust. Use the Up/Down arrows to set the current time. Repeat choosing the time segment and adjusting the time until both the hour and minutes are correct. Press Band or press and hold the Audio button to exit the clock setting mode.
Make sure the yellow wire is going to a source that still has 12v when the key is turned off. The yellow wire controls the memory and needs to be connected to a constant power source.
You should be able to see two (2) small grooves on the face of your VW radio, one on each side of the radio. You will need to insert a small flat tool into both slots simultaneously to release the radio from it's cradle. A small flat head screwdriver might actually work.
Depending upon the radio being installed, it might actually fit into the existing cradle, or you may have to partially disassemble the dash in order to switch cradles.
I have the same radio, the Pioneer DEH-10MP, bought at BestBuy. Anyway, the instruction manual is completely wrong, as you already know. The solution that worked for me is:
1) turn off the radio. 2) Push and hold the power button down (the dial). DON'T release the button. 3) The unit will display the time on the lcd screen with the numbers flashing, (only hr or min). 4) use the up/dwn, right/left buttons to set the clock. 5) turn off the unit by pushing the power button (again, the dial).
did you check to make sure your vehicle didnt come with a factory amp, if it has one is it turning on? or did you remember to disconnect the negative battery cable while installing your radio, i know thats a dumb question, once i was installing a pioneer a barely crossed a couple wires and fried the radio, the radio itself worked fine and all the features etc, but it never did play sound again. i always disconnect the power now!!
