My sansadisk clip works, but when I plug the USB cable into the computer it switches itself off. If I plug the USB cable into the sansa without attaching it to the computer its fine, its only when I plug the other end in the computer, any computer, so I can't charge it. I have tried every re-set known and nothing has changed...help

Have you tried a different cable? Sounds like their might be some kind of short circuit, maybe due to broken wires in the cable, that only comes to be a problem when power is applied from the USB host (the PC)

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2011

I have tried a 3 different USB cables and 2 different computers. I have re-formatted it, soft booted it, I cannot do any other type of re-boot because I cannot get it recognised by a computer due to it switching off.

It is approx. 3 years old now and I have not had this problem before.

I think your USB cable is faulty. Try to connect your player using another cable. If this can not solve the problem your device must have some hardware problem and to fix it you should carry it to service center.

Obtain licence for audio book SansaDisk clip+ 4gb

I had this problem too. Found a fix posted last year by the legendary and awesome Neutron Bob. Here's a link:

http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Clip-Clip/synchronize-to-continue-your-music-subscription/td-p/188012

I made my own notes as well:

1) Switch Sansa to MTP mode
2) Tether Sansa to the Computer, confirm it is in MTP mode;
Start > My Computer
Sansa appears under "other", not with a drive letter.

3) Reset Registry for Sansa;
Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Portable Device.
Select Sansa
Uninstall
Wait 30 seconds

4) Restart the Computer

5) Plug in Sansa

6) Re-Download a book into Sansa player

Hope this helps!

SansaDisk Sansa m250 (2GB) "Finalizing update"

You need to go to the Sandisk support site and down load the Updater program. Run the updater on your player. This in a way reinstalls the software on the player kind of like reinstalling the operating system. [

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DOWNLOAD TO THE SANSA CLIP MP3

First, connect your SansaDisk to your computer via the USB cable. Secondly, open your Windows Media Player. You can sync the musics from your Windows Media Player to your MP3 player.

Sansa clip sandisk 2gb won't charge. Thought it was low and after plugging it in to computer overnight it wasn't fully charged but worked the next morning but suddenly died. Now it won't charge. Sansa...

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

My sanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player will not charge anymore. At least not on the computer I'm on. I have had it hooked up to charge for 2 days now and nothing. Why is this and how can I charge it?

This is direct from the sansa FAQs at http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_clip/faqs 02. Why won’t my Sansa Clip charge when I connect it to my computer? USB Cable
Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable.

Computer in Hibernation mode
Make sure that the computer isn’t entering hibernate or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be on in order to charge your player.

USB Port 2.0
Make sure your player is connected USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).

USB Port location
Try plugging in different USB port (i.e. USB port in the back of the computer); sometimes the front USB ports have problem charging up the device.

Battery
Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.

Latest firmware
Make sure to update firmware by downloading and installing the Sansa Firmware Updater.

I hope this helps, and don't forget to rate the answer.

Help with Sansa clip?

Make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged first.

If it is not, you can suspect either hardware failure or a bad USB cable. Either way, call Sandisk and determine if you are still in-warranty. They can order replacement USB cables if they are still available.

Sansa Clip does not show up on computer

I had the same problem all you've got to do is first turn on the sansa clip. Then go to settings. After that scroll down to USB mode (second from bottom) then it woul probably say auto detect. Scroll down to MSC then hit enter. If that doesn't work try MTP mode.

Brand new Sansa Clip not recognized in My Computer

IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!

Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:

- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK
