Hi, i gave the same problem of the cam' asking me (on the blue screen) to either turn the cam' off or format the card, (which will erase al the pic's and i dont want it to happen) on the other hand, i cant use that card on my PC bcs it gives me a message of : "the disk drive F is not formatted, do you want to format now?" and i know its not the PC or the CAM' bcs i tried to insert a differant card into the cam' and it worked with no problems both on the cammera's screen and on the PC, i also had no problems with uplaodint the pic's to my PC from the other card. the weird thing is that i was going through the pictures and had no problems, and suddenly the screen of the cam' just turnned into blue and gave me the message of formatting the card.. what to do..? is it "doomed" to loose all the pic's..? please help... thanks! Maya.

You should be able to go through the card manufacturer and get "recovery software" that will help you get the pictures back off the card. It is likely that the card has gone bad.

SOURCE: trouble formatting card

Did you happen to write files to one of the cards from the computer, or delete files from the card through the computer before that happened? This problem has been known to happen in such cases. Remember to only *copy* files from the card to the computer using the card reader, and only delete files using the camera. Anyway, try turning off the camera, pulling and re-inserting the card. If it doesn't work - try it a few more times. If it still doesn't work and you've got nothing to lose, try deleting any files you may have written to the card using the computer, and then try again. But the fact that the new card didn't work as well might mean that it won't help. Good luck.

SOURCE: olympus C-750 Trouble formatting card

What you say Jeap is good. But before replacing the card, I would try cleaning the gold surface with a very little amount of denatured alcohol. Sometimes dirt on the surface will interfere with the contact.

SOURCE: Olympus camedia says format or power off

First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off)and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems. If you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many. One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below: http://www.lc-tech.com/software/rescuepr... You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying. Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recovered your pictures to your PC safely! If you are unable to read the card in the camera use an external card reader with these programs. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

SOURCE: Write Protect error and I think all my pics dissapeared!

If you are using an SD card, it could be possible that the Write Protect tab (the yellow tab on the top right) is in the 'lock' position. Slide it back and try again. If this does not work, make sure you are using the card and not the internal memory to store images.

SOURCE: Format problems of Olympus 1Gb card with C-750UZ

The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb card is not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

Can erase all pic at one time

The best way to erase all your pics at one time is to format the memory card. In fact, the memory card should be formatted each time you finish downloading the pics to your computer. Formatting not only erases the pics but also cleans up the directory structure and file information. FixYa is full of people asking how to retrieve pics from memory cards that haven't been formatted recently.

Kodak C160 camera says internal memory full. How do I correct it so it will take a pic? Have tried new memory card.

You need to get rid of the pics in the internal memory. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert the new card and do the format thing again to erase and initialize the card. Everything should work properly now.

Hi I can not figure out how to delete pictures off my Polaroid a300. I have tried everything and I still can't figure it out. HELP!

If the pics are on your internal memory, with no card in the camera,go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. If the pics are on the card and you want to delete just one pic at a time, bring up the pic on the screen and push the button with the garbage can icon...follow the on-screen instructions. If you want to erase the entire card and the pics are safely on your computer, then just do the format thing again with the card in the camera.

My new card w/ pics on it, when inserted into

Do not format the card....it will be erased. You need to get a card reader and use it to download your pics. When the pics are safely downloaded, then you can format the card but it in the camera, not the computer. 36e5191.jpg

Hi I just purchased a new memory card for my Kodak C160 CAMERA AND when I took pic's for E-Bay and it says that the card has to be formated. What does that mean and how do I make it work? Thanks in...

Formatting erases the card and optimizes it for a particular camera system. If you already have pics on the card, you need to download them using a card reader first. Then, insert the card into the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions.

How do you erase the SD card from the camera?

You cannot erase the card fromm the camera(You can delete the pic one by one using the delete option though). However you can connect the cam to your PC using the USB cable. The cam will be shown as a drive. Just right-click and click format. As for the flash no, you dont have to hit the flash button for every pic.
