Olympus i:robe IR-500 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Hi, i gave the same
you should be able to go through the card manufacturer and get "recovery software" that will help you get the pictures back off the card. It is likely that the card has gone bad.
I took a bunch of pictures and went to put them on
Removing the memory stick without using the "safely remove hardware" function is probably the cause cause of your problem. The pics are still there but you need a 3rd party machine to read them. Go to a Walmart and plug the card into one of their picture making machines. You can print the pics or even make a CD of them. Once you have them safely in your possession, format the card in the camera and in the future, don't forget to use the "safely remove hardware" function on your computer.
The LCD display on my
Hi,
If the display is working, for example, the start up screen comes up when you turn the camera on and you can review old pictures....then, the problem is with the CCD. This is the sensor that picks up the light to produce the image. The CCD has either failed or the connection to it is broken, Unfortunately, the cost to repair this model camera is more than the cost of a new one ($100+). I suggest that you replace this camera.
However, if LCD panel is at Fault, you could replace it. Sending the Unit for repair won's make any sense as it would cost you really High. There is one more catch - The LCD panel for this Model is not easily available. So taking all this into consideration - Time, Money, Value - I would advise you to buy a new one or Even used on around 120 bucks ( Without any repair or damage ). That would value more than this.
Note - If CCD is at Fault, few brands like Sony would replace that without any Charge. In that case, Contact Olympus, if they are also replacing it without any Charge.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
My IR-500 will not focus whether I lock focus or
Your shutter is staying open too long. Do you have it set on "bulb" or "time exposure" or something like that? It doesn't happen on flash pics because the flash is so short, it freezes the action.
Can't find how to set date/time stamp on picture
By default Olympus cameras do not print the date on the images when they are downloaded to a PC. Olympus does not include this functionality because they feel that it detracts from image quality. There is a function of the camera called print order that you can set that it will print the date on the images but this is only if you take the card to a photo processing store. However if you use the Olympus Master software and print the images that you have previously transferred there is a check box in the print setting window that you can add the date and or time to the printed image.
Multi-Swing
By rotating the display, users can use it to view their subject when taking low-angle, high-angle, and a wide range of other shots. When closed, the multi-swing display also ensures carefree portability by protecting both the lens and the LCD screen. The IR-500 is the first Olympus camera to feature a multi-swing display with 360° rotation capability. It is especially useful in Self Portrait Shooting. The multi-swing display's 360° rotation capability makes it easy to shoot self-portraits as well as other people and scenery. Users can view themselves on the LCD screen while shooting, and use the camera's Self Portrait mode to ensure optimum exposures.
Replacing screen on Olympus IR-500
I would suggest this is not going to be a viable task. at any level
You taking it to pieces and then finding replacement parts.
Contact Olypus for advice
My guess is that a 'repair' will be near the cost of replaceing the camera.
Photo stores [such as Jessops here in the UK] seel Screen protection material. this is like a heavy duty self adhesive tape- which can be cut to size for your screen.
That I suggest is a low cost fix.
