Hello There, I have a Magellan myself, besides me knowing some things or two about GPS'S

Give this a try, seems to work for me and others most the time.


Try this for me to see if this works: Let me know. It needs to be rebooted. Turn off, by holding off button down. Then once it is completely off, then turn it on, BUT when you go to turn it on, keep on button depressed, all the way until it turns on and then some for about 15 seconds, now you just rebooted system. You will need to purchase map updates from the magellan website to be able to update your map magellangps.com

can it see the clear sky above for starters

its not tracking satellite properly mine does the same thing am investigating

best suggestion is contact Magellan about this.....

either the sound level is adjusted too low in the unit or you have a audio problem in the unit---get the owner manual---My Magellan I had to lower the sound just a little as for me it was a distraction being too loud.

use your finger nail and press and slide it along the seem where the front and back meet..there are at least 2 snaps on each side of the gps...start opposite the power port side or you can break it off..let that side for last!

hi bichemanThe following advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050, 5310 and 6000ti fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read belowthis is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.let me know if you need more help or infoBill EX Standing Member of G.O.T.Please Support Our Troops

Please try this solution:

• Try to locate the reset button then use a pin that will fit to the hole the press and hold it for 10 seconds.
• Then after that release it then it will turn off and then turn on again. Then try to input directions and check if it will work again.
• And if there is a firmware update please do download it at www.magellan,com.

Try a hard reset .Turn the GPS on then locate the little pin hole on the side, using a paper clip, push reset. Also try holding the power button down for up to 10 seconds to power the unit off and again holding the power button down for up to 10 seconds to power the unit on. If that does not work try to update your GPS from the bellow link:-

If the problem still persists you need to contact the customer support for the unit replacement Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

If you're using it in a car with a car charger then you should be able to plug it in and use it straight away and the battery will charge while its being used.

If you're charging it to use while you're on the move without it being plugged in then it will take 6 hours to fully charge which should give you 2 to 3 hours of use.
