Our Qwikset Powebolt system is not working properly. I can lock the door from the inside and someone on the outside only has to press the lock key and it opens! How do we resolve this issue?

I think that you lockset is not set up for the proper "handing" of the door; that is, are the hinges on the left or right as you face the door from the outside. Although is see on the Kwikset website that the Powerbolt can be changed, I did not find out how to do it. I suggest that you call their Customer Service and they should be able to explain how to change it over. Here's the link:

Why is my driver side door not opening from the outside or inside of my mercury Milan 2006. Now it will open from the outside if I pull on the handle at the same time I hit unlock on the key fob?

Matthew, Interior door panel will have to come off to inspect, sounds like the automatic lock actuator is not extending far enough to unlock properly, the lock actauator probably needs replaced and make sure to lubricate everthing when door is apart, all latch,rods and mechanisms.

How can I lock a renault megane 56 plate without the key card as it is not working

Locking/Unlocking the doors from the outside
This is done using the RENAULT Card; see the "RENAULT Card" information in Section 1.
In certain cases, the RENAULT card may not work:
- if the RENAULT card battery is weak, flat, etc.
- if equipment operating on the same frequency as the card (mobile phones, etc.) is used;
- vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.
It is then possible:
- to use the key integrated into the card to unlock the front left-hand door;
- to lock each of the doors manually;
- to use the interior door locking/unlocking control (refer to the following pages).
Using the key integrated in the RENAULT card
Insert key 1 into the lock in the driver's door and lock or unlock. Locking the doors manually
Turn screw 2 with the door open (using the end of the key) and close the door.
This means that the doors are then locked from the outside.
The doors may then only be opened from the inside or by using the key in the front left-hand door. Interior locking/unlocking door control
Switch 3 controls the doors, boot and, depending on the vehicle, the fuel filler flap simultaneously.
If a door or the tailgate is open or not closed properly, the doors and tailgate lock/unlock quickly.
If you need to transport objects with the boot open, the other opening elements can still be locked: with the engine stopped, press switch 3 for more than five seconds to lock the other opening elements.
Locking the doors without the RENAULT card
For example, in the event of a discharged battery or the RENAULT card temporarily not working, etc.
With the engine switched off and an opening element (door or boot) open, press and hold switch 3 for more than five seconds.
When the door is closed, all the doors and the tailgate will be locked.
Unlocking the vehicle from the outside is only possible with the RENAULT card in the vehicle's access zone or using the key integrated in the RENAULT card.
Door and tailgate status indicator
With the ignition on, the warning light integrated in switch 3 informs you of the locking status of the opening elements:
- indicator light on, the doors and tailgate are locked,
- indicator light off, the doors and tailgate are unlocked.
When you lock the doors, the indicator light remains lit and then goes out.

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

12/6/2010 2003 bmw 325xi: Key does not manually lock/unlock driver door...but still works in ignition and trunk...central locking system still works to lock/unlock all doors(including driver) from...

If the key turns in the lock, but does nothing, then the linkage has become disconnected or broken. The key is mechanical to the lock and the lock has a electrical switch to operate the central locking unit. Could be a simple broken clip from the lock barrel. Hope this helps

Tighten the outside faceplate of a qwikset dead bolt.

The inside face plate snaps on. To remove it remove the T handle and use a small flat head screwdriver to genty pry it off. Behind the cover you will find 2 screws to remove the lock halves.
