I have an older Whirlpool Ultra Care II gas dryer. I used a dryer brush to clean out the lint area and now the dryer is making a very loud noise when it runs. I get heat but sounds like it is going to explode.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The loud noise that you hear is from the belt that is either broken or worn out, you can check this picture....part#30 is the belt that needs replacement. Also check the idler pulley (part#13) and motor pulley (part#29). Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My Whirlpool gas dryer is not working

Instructions

1
Check that the dryer door is closing completely. Remove anything that blocks the dryer door from closing.
2
Ensure the "Start" button is pressed firmly to start the dryer cycle, the dryer is not overloaded and the clothing is not balled up. Any of these things can prevent the dryer from operating and/or drying the clothes.

3
Use a level to confirm your Whirlpool dryer is sitting flatly and evenly on the ground. Adjust the dryer as necessary for it to be level as the dryer will vibrate and make unnecessary noise when sitting unevenly.
4
Examine the inside of the Whirlpool dryer drum and in the space around the drum for loose change, pens, hair ties and other items that could have been left in the pockets of clothing. These items will cause noise and potentially cause the dryer to become inoperable.
5
Examine the Whirlpool dryer's lint trap for excess lint. Remove any lint from the trap and place it back into position. Always clean the lint trap between dryer cycles. Inspect the area around the dryer and in the ventilation and exhaust systems. Remove any built up lint and clean the area thoroughly. Built up lint is a fire hazard and can cause operating issues.
6
Check the gas shutoff valve if your Whirlpool dryer is gas powered. Ensure the shutoff valve is turned all the way to the "On" position.
7Check the electric plug and ensure it fits securely in the outlet.
8
inspect both the fuse box and circuit breaker for any electrical problems. Replace any blown fuses, if necessary, and reset the circuit breaker if it has been tripp

Turned on dryer & tried to start but it gave a load thud noise & wouldn't go. Stop it then re-started a light came on stating clean filter. Clean filter & look inside that area to see if...

there is a sensor located beneath the lint filter, more the likely the dryer sheet residue is on it, gently brush it off, it has two screws. As far as the loud thud noise is/may be a problem with the drum/rollers/glides/belt/idler arm/motor Here is a website that will assist you, once the filter light goes off and the drum will not turn.Good Luck Tim

Whirlpool gold utra care II gas dryer does not dry

That has to be a stopped up vent or a lint filled dryer. You gotta clean out the lint, open the vent.

Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II: No heat

didc, on a gas dryer, if the thermal fuse blows it will still rotate, but will not heat. Since this is a gas dryer, see if the ignitor is glowing. If it is, then you know the thermal fuse is good. If not, the thermal fuse may be blown or the ignitor itself and thus the reason for no heat. Catriver.7152136.jpg
