Do you have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual?

I need the first two digits of the s/n of your FAV6800A or FAV9800A it will be 10 thru 17?

That tells us if the machine will use the Upper One-Roller Clutch bearing.

I have done a Tub Seal and Outer Tub bearing replacement on a FAV6800A Series 10 first two digits of the s/n and the process is the same for all the machines series 10 thru 17.

You sound like you want to save your $1K machine and I will try to help as a knowledgeable owner.

I no longer post support on this forum it is to difficult to find my previous support topics. I would suggest you Google this topic "Maytag Neptune load unbalance" join that forum and post a topic in the washer repair forum something like FAV6800A Tub Seal replacement and I will respond.

I post under dh1200s on that DIY appliance repair forum.

Sudsy water is leaking from the machine

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
The tub seal is the most common thing that causes Maytag washers to leak. This is unfortunate because the tub seal is an expensive repair job and not one I would suggest doing yourself. I say this because it is complicated and requires special tools to perform this job. To check if the tub seal is bad, first remove the front panel by removing the two screws from the bottom of the front panel. If you have a newer model, prize the bottom clips with a screwdriver. Then pull the bottom of the panel until the top clips release. Then start the washer and watch for a leak around transmission where it goes through the tub. If it does leak then the tub seal is bad and needs replacing. If you have the tool or willing to buy it click here for instructions on how to replace the tub seal. If the tub seal doesn't, leak you probably found the leak while performing this test.

Water leak around transmission

you will need a new tub seal kit part number 12002223. however these seals are very time consuming to change and most(90%) of the time will only temporaraly fix the problem. the seals are machine pressed in at the factory so changing the seal in the home doesn't hold up very long

Maytag Dependable LAT8824AAE. Main tub seal leaks

The part number for the mounting stem and seal kit is 6-2095720 it cost about 85 bucks retail. You will also need to buy a special maytag spanner wrench to remove the inner tub. Its NOT an easy job the inner and outer tubs and hoses all need to be removed. The seal kit comes with no instructions. If you had a service company do the job it would be probably around 250 maybe more. We charge 104.95 labor for the job. Good luck _MJ_

How to fit door seal gasket to service washing machine?????

Remove plastic clamp holding seal to cabinet and peel off the cabinet.push downwards on the seal close to the tub and the seal will come off - its just held by a spring round the periphery.

To fit new seal:
Lubricate the slot which fits over the tub with washing-up fluid - essential
Starting at the top, press the seal so the flange of the tub enters the slot on the seal. Work your way round the using thumbs to force the slot on the tub flange. When slot is on the flange all way round, fit the spring which holds it on. The spring goes into a slot on the outside of the seal. this is quite difficult and you may need another pair of hands.
Fit the outside of the seal to the cabinet - this is easy and fit the plastic clamping ring.
Test for leaks before using, rinse to test as the water level is higher.
