I just purchased a new computer, when i when to install sofeware for my printer hp deskjet f4100 series, it said oper. system not supported. my question is - is there updated sofeware for this printer that will support windows 7?

Uninstall the generic driver from your computer first. (It's probable that you installed the OS driver which only runs the printer. If you leave this in place then you will confuse your computer.) Then disconnect the data cable before rebooting the machine. Now install the software from above.

you can install printer with window basic driver but this printer is new so window do not have the default drier for this printer you need to install driver from internet and then install your printer, follow this step to install printer and download drivers,

1. click this link to download driver for your HP F4100 printer FROM HERE.
2 select your printer model.
3. select your operating system.
4. then download the HP deskjet full feature software and drivers.
5 when download complete run the setup file to install driver for your printer.
6 do not plug the usb cable to your computer until setup prompt you.
7 follow the onscreen instruction which is coming on setup page.
8 and your printer is install and ready to use.

Are you trying to use the CD? If so go to HP.com/support and see if there are Windows 7 drivers available for the printer (be sure to note whether you have 32 or 64-bit Windows 7).

A few days ago my HP Deskjet, 4100 Series, All In One printer just stopped working in the middle of printing. I got a new power cord/power pack and now the light comes on but there is no response when I try to print. It is as if the machine is not even turned on.
