Put in a new catridge and I get the E on my display and often a message that the tricolor cartridge has a problem. I have 3 new catridges that have a problem?

Orange light flashing next to the paper with ink drop on it and the green E underneath i took out the ink cartridges and it still didnt work

  • nicongaill Feb 04, 2009

    same problem here!

  • lexuality Apr 15, 2009

Yeah I'm getting the same problem too, both orange lights flashing, the one with the ink drop and the blank sheet of paper... also getting the green E underneath.

I thought the paper was jamming at first but when I take it out and put it back in the whole thing clunks and splutters and keeps pulling the paper in only to spit it back out again and refuse to print anything.

I literally only just installed new black and colour ink cartridges in it no less than half an hour ago, too! It had been printing fine, done several pages, now - nothing!

Dead disappointed as it sounds like this cannot be fixed?

Click on start, then click run, type in the word services.msc, you will then get a list of options scroll down the lost to the letter p and find the word print spooler. click print spooler once then in the left corner you will have to options, either to stop or refresh, before doing anything take the usb out of the back of the printer, then click on stop, then click start, then click refresh, after this put your usb back in the printer, and that ''should'' solve the problem. email me if works or does not, thanks

Not well documented in the manual. E error plus cartridge light flashing indicates a faulty (not and empty) cartridge. Check cartridges are installed correctly and packing paper has been removed. Replace black cartridge with a new one. Does it now work? if so black cartridge was faulty. If not replace colour cartridge with a new one. Does it now work? If so, colour cartridge was faulty. If not, throw the printer out and buy a new one.

I just had the same problem and was frustrated and thinking my printer was broken.  But then I took the ink cartridge out and realized I just had forgotten to remove the protective sticker.  Ooops!  Hope this helps.

  • Anonymous Oct 10, 2011

Had the same problem, cleaned both cartridges with wd 40, it was just a dodgy contact due to ink. Problem solved.

I was about to trash this printer when I saw this. Sure enough, one of the stickers was still on. I felt like Chevy Chase in "Christmas Vacation" when all of his lights finally stayed on. Thanks!

I have bad bad experience with this F-380.
According to the HP service center, this type can't be repaired.... how come?. They just offering me to "Trade In" with other type. Indirectly, they want to tell that their product is failed.
This weird product is suck..... My sugestion, don't buy this product.
Bye...bye HP.........

I got the problem also. The printer is only 2 week old!
The refillshop said the cartridges are dead! They also mentioned that the printer could destroy new cartridges.

I suppose I will have to use the warrancy

What causes orange light to flash 4 times?

Blinng orange light

Answer Part 1 of 2

An error has occurred in the printer. The number of flashes indicates the type of error, as outlined below. Check the cause and take appropriate action.
Two flashes: Out of paper or paper feed error
Reload the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
Three flashes: Paper jam
If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, reload the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.
See Paper Jams
Four flashes: Ink tank is not installed properly
Open the Print Head Cover and check whether an ink tank is installed. If an ink tank is installed, push the button of the ink tank, and reinstall the ink tank properly.
Five flashes: No Print Head installed, or Print Head failure
Install a Print Head.
When the error continues, contact a Canon service representative.
Eight flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full
Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the printer. Eight flashes indicate that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so that you can continue printing.
Important
If this error occurs, replacement of the waste ink absorber and maintenance of the printer are required. Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, it cannot be printed until the Waste ink tank is exchanged.

Nine flashes: A specified period of time has lapsed without receiving a response from a digital camera or digital video camcorder / The digital camera or digital video camcorder connected is not compatible with this printer

Hp deskjet 5652 not printing, orange light flashing continuously

1. Check to insure the cover is shut down completely.

2. If the "Ink Drop" Icon is blinking you are either out of ink, or there is a problem with the cartridge carrier. So open the cover - the carriage should move to the middle, if not it is bound up somewhere. Check the guides and around the carriage area for gummy labels etc..

3. If the carriage moves to the middle, release the ink cartridges and replace.

4. If the "Arrow" Icon is blinking, this could be a result of a paper feed error. Remove the paper from the tray, open the cover and insure no jams are in the rollers. Shuffle the paper lightly and place back in tray. Check to make sure the tray is pushed completely forward and then press the "Arrow" Icon button until a sheet is fed into the printer.

* * Note: When you are replacing the Ink cartridges and before you remove the tape from the bottom heads, give them a shake to lossen up the ink before installing.
