check the id sensor and clean and check the laser power sp-2-103 for patern, this problem occur becouse the id sensor no detect gray scale in the drum
this error code occur when id sensor don't get the pattern within 10 copies sc990 occurs the major fault in this error code is that it is logic based where service manual says that it is a software performance error changing drum could be useful to remove this sc or you could confirm that by making amendment in "id sensor pattern interval" in "drum" category raise the value of forced and id sensor check values you will get the result

We got the same error on our machine, so I called Ricoh Direct Tech Support and they said it is a known manufacturer's error. All you have to do is 1. make sure your product is registered, 2. call them up and tell them the error and 3. they will send you a new machine. You will have to send back the old machine in the same box, but they provide the RMA for you to ship it back in.

sc990 is a general software error. It could be caused by a specific application or function, or it could be caused by a problem with the process control. In general, you can get rid of the sc990 error by turning the machine off with the main power switch (the orange switch on the left side of the copier) but if the error comes right back, the best first solution is to update the machine's firmware.
