No image through view finder or LCD

I haven't used my COOLPIX 5700 for a few months, last week I switched it on only to find no picture !! It plays back pics stored on memory stick ok.

When the camera is turned on the view finder goes blank or a series of white
bands flashes intermittently however, the date,time,Spd, and all of data will show. The camera will play back old images just fine. I've changed out the
battery and have switched out several cards and have gone through all of
trouble shooting procedures in the manual. Also, I've set everything back to
