Hi Fax machines are one of the oldest ways to send document information over a telephone line. Before e-mail became the most popular, and more efficient way to send documents, the fax machine was king. With time, fax machines have become sophisticated machines capable of many functions. No longer found only as a stand-alone machine, fax machines are included in copiers and printers. Faxing can even be done through computer software to a receiving fax machine or printer. So with such a complex machine there are several things that could go wrong. This article teaches you some basic troubleshooting steps.
Fax Quality
ConnectivityIf you are not able to send or receive faxes, you may be experiencing a connectivity issue. Check to make sure that you are properly connected to a phone line, and that nothing has been pulled out. Make sure that your phone cord is in the right phone jack on the fax machine, as several have separate phone jacks for answering machines or extra connectivity. Check to make sure the phone line is working by testing it with a working phone. Also try turning your fax machine off and on. Sometimes a quick reboot will solve the issue.
Paper JamIf you own a fax machine, you will likely have experienced a paper jam at some point. Small fax machines only have two areas where the paper can become jammed. Try looking in the document feed area, and also in the printing area. Once you find the jammed paper, pull it in the direction that it is traveling, doing so gently as not to damage any gears or rip the paper, leaving a large chunk inside your machine.

You may have to look around the site a little, as sometimes the technical support pages are not linked to the public pages. http://www.usersmanualguide.com/casio/pocket_viewers has manuals posted for many old and new Casio Digital Diary models (thanks to Matt W. Ammons for the link), but one of the sites they link to at Casio has gone offline, so some of the links don't work.
IMSL Software has created downloadable generic user manual for all Casio diary models. This brief manual attempts to cover all models and major features in one document, so it doesn't go into a lot of step-by-step detail, but it does cover all the basics for all common models. The manual is a Word document in Zip-compressed format, so you must have an unzip utility like WinZip installed to open it.
