The Samsung 204B monitor have a know issue with failing power supplies that cause the exact problem you are having. At first they are a little slow to display a picture and the more you keep using it the longer it takes for the display to come on. The repair is simple if you can solder. If you look at the board, you will see the p/n, manufacturer name, V (version) number. What kind of problem are you having with the monitors.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). this is very frecuent in all monitors or tv's lcd .... turn on 3 seconds and off the capacitors need to be replaced y sugest a technician

This sounds like a power supply problem, how old is the monitor? If it is not new in the last year and is used regularly it sonds like a faulty capacitor in the power supply. If you are aware of the precautions necessary when handling capacitors and a moderatly competent solderer then you can replace then yourself - a complete set of capacitors usually costs around £3 or $5

Got the same problem, happened yesterday for me, Did some research and it looks like its bad capacitors in the back, check out this page for more information... i'm taking mine to an electrician to fix today... luckily he's related and should be able to fix it on the cheap...

I too have a dual monitor Samsung SyncMaster 204 setup. My monitors started flickering, then a week later had turn on problems like your describe. I found a fix on this fixya website and followed the fairly techie suggestion. It worked. I wrote up a .pdf set of instructions so others might also benefit. Hope this helps. Doug

Try to replace C110 and C111 in the power supply circuit. These are 820uF caps and are in parallel. I had slow start and a flicker on this same monitor. Replacing the caps fixed it. Good luck, Ryan
