It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem, we have repaired many Samsung monitors with this problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts,replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. WELL step one is setting the PC, to a correct resolution the monitor allows. The connecting cable or the video card would be the first suspects. Try a different cable to connect the monitor first, if there is no change, the video card in the computer would be second to look at. Can simply connect a different monitor to your computer to troubleshoot this. If the testing monitor works, it will be the graphics card that is the issue.

All screens on earth do that, if the PC desktop is dead, all do , it goes to ITS very own sleep mode. and black screen in 15 seconds. after PC dies, or is PC already dead, not connected or cable to PC is bad. or both ends connected wrong.. #2 cause is CCFL backlamp tubes dead. 2007 year made has those CCFL and most are dead now. or even only 5 years old they die. to prove that , CCFL deal. dead when monitor is cold, and no Power power it on (its button) only, no PC needed and push the menu button under 15 seconds does the OSD menu pop up, if yes monitor is not dead. or do this test any time that" 20 times dead "thing happens, do the OSD test first. CCFL deathh symptoms. dead tubes, all or 1/2 the screen dim tubes intermittent, and random dead fails only warm or cold, only. thermal. yellow tinged tubes, white = yellowish. bad luck and any CCFL can fail, for lots of reasons. we use a flash light pointed at the screen to see , OMG there is data there. the menu button does work , only CCFL are dead. now the acid test gee test the monitor on a 2nd known good PC. what can be more easy and best test. if that simple test works, then the PC#1 is dead, we then fix it next. the secret is he OSD is inside the monitors brain, no PC needed. danny tell your story and do the tests first see data? ????? Oct 23, 2009 - This is how it went for me..I have a Samsung SYNCMASTER 2053BW. I leave my monitor on and let it hybernate when I shut down PC. I'm 3 months outside of my warranty. Two weeks ago something started happening. I boot PC and video doesn't come up for 10 minutes, and when it came up it worked perfect. VC/Monitor/MB?? It became 20 minutes and ...now..I have the analog/digital box in top left screen, power light on monitor flashing, no menu available on monitor and none of the other buttons work for anything. I test the monitor on Laptop..nothing(same as above)..I break out the old(working) monitor from deep within the closet. Plug it in and I'm up and running. So...

HOW TO OPEN A SYNCMASTER 2053BW

NO SCREWS!!! Assuming that the stand mount has been pulled out..The seam around the screen frame is where you start. The frame has the prongs, the back cover has what the prongs slip over.The frame is coming off first! I got the side to open by finger, then used a small standard screwdriver to pry ever so gently(lifting frame from rearcover). Leave the power button assembly on the frame, pull wire only a little to relax any tension..you get about 3/4" in extra taped to panel. The hard part is done.;) Still holding the frame...Now lift the panel (where the power button assembly wiring goes under panel) with the power housing that is under it as a whole and you will see where the powerbuttonassemble detaches.Remove frame. Now..holding edges of panel into back cover, lift and flip the whole thing over and place panel face down on a perfectly flat surface..a towel on my desk works. Lift and remove back cover.Your now looking at the back of the board housing. The ribon is simple, on the panel end of the ribon, squeez the outer clips together and slide it away against the panel..The secondary tin plate is removable, two clips super close to where the sets of wires come around the housing and into the panel.Unhook the 4 plugs(pink inside/blue outside)...Now lift the power housing off of the panel. The big board has the power. One screw to remove a ground plate first. Two screws to remove power board. Pics from phone.

Reassemble but DO NOT re-snap the frame into place....yet... Test it! There is a reason the caps got hot in the first place, therfore it has a good chance of happening again. This is not fullproof...but.....mine has been on now for close to 6 hours with no glitches whatsoever. So I have resnapped mine back together. I hope you can too. - I must also add that this is one of the best producing monitors I have ever seen...in 60hz. The clarity is top notch. If you purchase one get the extended warranty. FYI...I paid $4.00 for those caps.

If you are saying that it powers off in a few seconds you most probably have a bad (internal) power supply.

the easiest solution would be to epoxy the mount back though you may loose ability to tilt monitor, be sure not block any air holes. when setting together tape it to proper spot and let set for recommended time on epoxy(get at hardware store).

Try a different DVI cable?
