Samsung 204B random blank screen

The troublesome monitor is 1/2 of dual monitor setup. Randomly the (left) monitor abruptly goes blank. Cycle power w/ front panel button restores monitor function immediately, but only for another random interval (2 - 5 minutes, sometimes longer), then screen blanks again. Both inputs (VGA - digital) & computer video channels yield same results (it's not cables or VGA card). Time interval between blanking seems totally random. Other (right) monitor exhibits NONE of these symptoms with either computer output.

I never had any flicker problems. Mine appears to have been more of a digital fault and replacing the digital control board inside the monitor seems to have solved this problem. I found one on ebay for about $40 and that seems to have taken care of the issue.

I too have a dual monitor Samsung SyncMaster 204 setup. My monitors started flickering, then a week later had turn on problems like your describe. I found a fix on this fixya website and followed the fairly techie suggestion. It worked. I wrote up a .pdf set of instructions so others might also benefit. Hope this helps. Doug

You may have failing DC filter caps in the power supply.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

No Display on my Samsung 204B monitor

If you know how to open it up and get to the power supply you will find three capacitors 2-820uf and 1-330 @ 25vdc 105o.they will have puffed up tops replace them. FYI the monitor has a 3 year warranty.

Blank screen

if this goes blank randomly, it could be that there's something wrong with the monitor or its starting to die on you. if there's a factory reset button on the monitor, you can try doing it and if that is still not going to resolve the problem then just get it replaced if its still under warranty and if not then get another one.

Screen goes blank when I move the mouse

Did it work properly using a VGA (analog) cable? If so, check your DVI (digital) cable against the pictures at the bottom of http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html.
You probably have one of the two at the left. Each has a different bandwidth, translating to a maximum resolution. The native resolution for your monitor might be marginal if you have a single-link DVI-D cable.
My 204B seems very picky about signal-level. It blinks when connected by DVI, even though it should be fine with a single-link cable, and complains about the settings even though the settings are optimal. Maybe yours is similar. I have ordered a dual-link cable and will try that myself.
