I need to replace the water actuator on my frididaire model PLHS269ZCB2. I have the diagram but am not sure of the exact diassemble to get to the actuator and what parts may be need to complete this replacement. What parts may be destroyed during disassembly. It looks like the label cover of stainless may be hard to remove without destroying it.

SOURCE: Water Actuator is broken.

I had the same problem with my water dispenser and since they were willing to sell me a part but provided no directions and I couldn't locate any I decided to make my own for those who might need them. Here is a link to a PDF I made, hope it helps.

http://www.rharriman.com/SupportFiles/FridgeActuatorReplacement.pdf

Before starting this job I would also like to warn all to please be save and UNPLUG the fridge. The whole job took me less then 30 minutes and I doubt anything will go bad in that amount of time.

KitchenAid French door refrigerator. How do I repair a non-working water Dispenser on it please?

Troubleshoot step by step and if that fails, resort to a professional:

Check the Basics:
Make sure the refrigerator is plugged in and receiving power.
Verify that the water supply to the refrigerator is turned on.

Inspect the Dispenser Actuator:
The dispenser actuator is the component that activates the switch to send voltage to the dispenser.
Check if the dispenser actuator is damaged. If so, replace it with a new one. I list a procedure for testing this actuator at the end of these basic steps.

Frozen Water Tube:
Disconnect the water supply tube at the bottom of the door.
Blow air through it. If air doesn't pass through, the water supply tube may be frozen.
Thaw it out and ensure the freezer is set to the proper temperature (0-10°F) to prevent future freezing.

Water Inlet Valve:
The water inlet valve opens to supply water to the dispenser.
Ensure the water pressure to the valve is at least 20 psi.
Use a multimeter to test the water inlet valve for continuity. If it lacks continuity, replace it.

Check Water Filter:
Remove the water filter and dispense water. If flow increases, the filter may be clogged or incorrectly installed.
Replace the water filter if needed.

Verify Water Supply Valve:
Ensure the water supply valve (connected to the refrigerator) is fully open.
If disconnected during service, it might not have been turned back on fully.

And now, the testing of the actuator.

To determine whether the dispenser actuator in your KitchenAid refrigerator is damaged, follow these steps:

Visual Inspection:
Look closely at the dispenser actuator. Check for any visible signs of damage, such as cracks, chips, or breakage.
If you notice any physical damage, it's likely that the actuator needs replacement.

Functional Test:
Press the dispenser lever or button as you normally would to dispense water.
Observe the response: Does the actuator move smoothly and engage the switch behind it?
If the actuator feels stiff, loose, or doesn't move at all, it may be damaged.

Listen for Clicking:
When you press the dispenser lever, listen for a clicking sound.
The actuator should make a distinct click as it activates the switch.
If there's no click or an unusual noise, it could indicate a damaged actuator.

Multimeter Test (Advanced):
If you have a multimeter, you can perform a continuity test on the actuator.
Disconnect the refrigerator from power.
Remove the actuator cover (if applicable) to access the actuator.
Set the multimeter to the continuity (ohms) setting.
Touch the multimeter probes to the actuator terminals.
If there's no continuity (infinite resistance), the actuator is likely faulty.

Remember to exercise caution when working with electrical components. If you're unsure or uncomfortable performing these checks, consider seeking professional repair assistance.

Remember to consult your Owner's Manual for specific instructions related to your model. Much of this information comes from the RepairClinic site.

Filtered water quit working on my Frididaire side by side

although you had waterto the bottom of door when disconnected, did you try to dispense water while unhooked andsee it flow??? because just unhooking it will allow the resivoir of stord water to flow out by gravity, giving false sense of water working., if indeed it did work the you have a frozen water lin within the freezer door itself, ait tricky to defrost. aside form unplugging unit and allow to thaw out, or pulling line form liner not going to be easy to thaw the line. if you indded still hear the "hum" after disconnectng water under door, then it soundsas if you have a bad water inlet valve located behind refrig where the water atteachges to the refric, no repairingthe valve it needs replacing

I have water between the glass on microwave door. how do i diassemble to clean

Normallyyou have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo)and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Leaky float valve

Teresa, the water fill is usually a timed fill and the float assy. is a safety device to cut power to the fill valve in the event the dishwasher keeps filling. ( In most models). Sounds like your initial fill is just above the float lever actuator and dripping. Check the level of the dishwasher to make sure that the water is not higher toward the front. Catriver..post back.

Filtered water quit working on my Frididaire side by side

Angelbaby, there is a couple things for you to check. Number one is to remove and reinsert the filter. I had one once where it was not exactly seated correctly and caused this problem. If that's not the case check to see that the water reservoir is not frozen. This will be behind the drawers on the refrigerator side. You can take a hair dryer and go lightly over it to melt the ice if it is in fact frozen. Finally in the back by the triple water valve is a diode on the valve harness. If this diode failed you will not get water or ice. Let's hope this is not the case and it's one of the first two senerios, Catriver...post back

Filtered water quit working on my Frididaire side by side

Can you remove a line from the back rear of the unit and see if water flows there? The solenoid valve should make a solid "click" when the water lever is pushed. Any debris in the valve filter screen? See if you can reach up or look inside to see if the water lever is actually pushing the door mounted switch in, may be able to press switch with your finger if you can reach it or with a pencil, etc.
