Leaky float valve

Maytag Dishwasher circa 1997 Model #DWU6402AAE Serial #31825479SD There was no mention of my specific model so that's why I'm giving you the model #. Problem is the float valve stem drips water on the floor. I'm not exactly sure replacing it will solve the problem. What are the mechanics or design of the float valve? Thanks, Teresa Dugan

my model is MDB6000AWW and I have the same issue. Drips an ounce or two every time we run it. Can't see any cracks in riser stem.... anyone know how to remove the float for a better look see? Thanks.

Teresa, the water fill is usually a timed fill and the float assy. is a safety device to cut power to the fill valve in the event the dishwasher keeps filling. ( In most models). Sounds like your initial fill is just above the float lever actuator and dripping. Check the level of the dishwasher to make sure that the water is not higher toward the front. Catriver..post back.

I have an older model Bosch dishwasher, model SHX46B, serial 830300124, that is leaking while not in operation. It's a very slow leak, and I think I heard and saw a drip from the upper spray arm. It fills...

Hi.
Sounds like a leaky inlet valve. Sometimes they don't seal off completely or the membrane inside it could be torn. Best to replace the whole valve.

Wan't take on water after first rinse

see this steps and fix it. God bless you

Water Inlet Valve

The dishwasher has an electrical water valve called a water inlet valve. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, the water inlet valve might be defective. These valves are not repairable and will have to be replaced.

Float

The float assembly is normally inside the dishwasher near the door on the floor of the dishwasher. If something gets stuck underneath it and holds the float assembly up, the dishwasher won't fill with water. If the float assembly moves freely up and down, the float switch might be defective.

Float Switch

The float switch is actuated by the float assembly. It is a protection device designed to prevent the dishwasher from overfilling. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, it may be because this float switch is defective or stuck.

Water Supply Problem

The dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply from the house. Check to be sure the household water supply valve is turned on. Over time, calcium deposits can build up in the water supply valve or in the small filter screen inside the water inlet valve. The water supply line may need to be removed from the water inlet valve of the dishwasher, then run some water into a bucket to see if there is enough pressure. Be certain to turn off the water before working on the water line.

Maytag dishwasher #WU484 will not fill

The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. First Check to see if the valve is getting water. Make sure it’s not clogged. There is a screen on the inside of the valve, this sometimes gets clogged up with debris. Check to see if you get power to valve when unit is put into operation may take a couple minutes to start a fill. If you have power and it’s not clogged up replace the valve .If you have no power to the water inlet valve check float switch. This can be done by checking the continuity. There is a video of this at http://appliancehelponline.com/dishfloatwaterinletvideo.html this will walk you checking the water inlet valve and the float switch. It may be a different model but the testing procedure will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for most models. All parts come with installation instructions.

I have a Maytag dishwasher model DWU8860 and it doesn't always fill after a pumpout cycle

It is probably a faulty inlet valve. Check the float switch first.

See here how to locate the parts.

See also this advice for repairclininc:

" There's no water entering the machine If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Float switch
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.
