Wd-65313 turn on then shuts off, pressed input and menu, led light blinks 2 times pause blinks 2 times, what does it mean?

Hi James,

Thank you for purchasing my service.
Please double check your model no. I think it is WS-65313."22" is an error code for "short detect", the faulty parts are the convergence chip (STK-394-250) and the pico fuses. The convergence chips are mounted on the large heatsink.
I have a link where you can buy the convergence repair kit that includes these parts, thermal paste, photo instructional and soldering manual. Click here.
Let the unit unplug for 1 hour to before you repair it, click this link to have an idea how to replaced the convergence chip.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Mitsubishi 55" Convergence chip location? Where

Look for a big heat sink (big piece of aluminum) right behind the back access panel. The brown pressboard that you need to take of to have access to the inside of the chassis. I think there is two STK chips for this tv. Older mits only had one. The STK chip is black, should be about 3" long with about 20 pins on it. It may have a metal clip covering the part number on the front.

My colors will not converge. I think I need to replace my stk-392-110 chips. How do I do this and where can I get the chips?

Sounds like a convergence failure, here is a tutorial I made:

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Convergence

If you can not adjust the convergence, then you need to change the convergence IC's The number of the IC is on the chip. There maybe one or two IC chips. I think there are about 12 to 15 pins or so, and will be mounted to a heat sink. There maybe surrounding resistors that need to be replaced too. I hope this is helpful.

Convergence does not work,why not

IT involves getting at the chips as the KP51WS510 uses two of the STK-392-560 CHIPS.

Each chip has about 18 pins that have to be unsoldered and then both chips replaced--most of the time you just need to replace both chips and adjust the set with the Sony remote--sometimes there will be another bad part around them taken out but this is not real common on these sets.

Can you solder? Are you handy if I tell you how to locate the chips and get at them?

I have repaired hundreds of sets with convergence problems.

Confirm actual model number to me and tell me if you think you can do it---if you know how to solder etc I can tell you what you will need and how to do it.

I already change the convergence chips and the red lines still bowed and the problem was not corrected, any clue on what else could be wrong?

First check the 6 resistors on the convergence board 2.2 ohm or .22
red ,red silver gold i think . if they check with in 5% , you got a bad
convergence IC , it happens. remember the chip cost about 8-12.00 etch
so , once in awhile you get a bad chip. and since the bowing red line
is normally corrected by the convergence chips . that makes them
highly suspect. also the convergence set up should allow you to
offset this . If not , swap the chips again.

also check your solder joints ,make sure you don't have any gaps.
or bridges.

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond

Blue color is ober screen

It may be the fluid in the CRT or convergence chips are bad.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Update and a few questions (Convergence Problems - VS-55601 55 in Projection)

yes, they go bad interment because they have a large current go thru them and they generate heat, they are mounted on a heat sink with white silicone to help disapate heat. replace both not just one, try MCM Electronics get heat sink compound also
