Controller for Altec Lansing XA3051

I need to replace the wired controller to my son's 5:1 PC speaker system.
Without it the speakers are useless but even more so is the Company. They say they don't carry any more parts and have no more information about this Model. I bought it almost 2 years ago. If I had the plug ID # to the end I can repair it myself. But the Tech guy at Altec said they don't even know what part that is.

PLEASE HELP

If you plug it in to your computer, a freeware program may still be able to recognize it and give you exact model numbers and IDs--worth a shot, and you'll love the program anyway--Belarc Advisor. It lists all hardware and software, model numbers, keys, etc. Hope it helps.

PS--the least hassle may be to buy used on EBay. One is for sale for buy-it-now for $45 with shipping as we speak.

It is fairly useless. The only troubleshooting tips for "Controller
doesn’t work" are:

"Verify that the grey-colored DIN connector is firmly inserted into the DIN connector jack on the subwoofer.
Ensure the pins are aligned between the plug and jack.
Remember, the arrow should be facing up."

Perhaps your arrow is not facing up. Hmmm.

Altec Lansing used to be good, but not any more. I had one that buzzed even when switched off. As it was in my bedroom, I put it all back in the box like new and gave it to a Christmas present drive for underprivileged children.

The speaker with the controls goes on the right. Here is the installation manual

What Model....?
Using a mobile phone camera would have helped in this situation.
Before taking things apart

I'll be very surprised if someone has the same speaker system in bits somewhere
An electronics guy would trace the wire back to it's source to decide what it's being used for.

Altec lansing mx5021 wired controller not working

Sounds like you might have a wire loose at the other side of the controller. This is a easy thing to find out. Just unscrew the side screws that hold the back board to the cabinet. Don't unscrew the screws connected to the speaker wire clips unless the back doesn't come off. Just look for a disconnected wire at the controller jack then put it back. If there is no loose wire then you might have a bent female contact at the outside of the controller jack. You would have to look for this looking into the holes where you plug the cable into the controller jack. If you see a bent contact then use a thin nail of ice pick and insert it into the hole where the bent connector is to try to re open the contact so the cable can slip into it easy. Don't forget to unplug the power first.

I have an Altec Lansing SLS6221 and it worked great upon setup yesterday. Today no connections were touched but it won't power on via the wired controller. I can hear the subwoofer giving feedback.

They used to be good speakers, but not any more.

I have altec lansing 2100, but lost the satelites & the controller - so the problem is I cannot turn on the subwoofer. Is there any other way to turn the woofer on without the controller?

I dont think so, have you tried a universal remote.?

I have the same problem I tested the power volume controller with in my friend sub-woofer and same issue, is not the sub-woofer neither the speaker, is the power volume controller definitively.

You may be out of luck. Apparently, Altec is no longer supporting this product (2002) and the user's manual provides no specifications for the power supply. You can try asking them at 1-800-ALTEC-88 (1-800-258-3288) or Email: [email protected]

I had the same problem. After numerous calls to Altec Lansing they sent me out a new one. The new one doesn't have the same connector on it. I called tech support only to hear that they discontinued the 621 and don't make parts for it. Sorry, you are probably out of luck.
