DEH-P640 (CD Player Problem)

I have a DEH-P640 and everything on it seems to be operational except the CD Player. You can put the CD into the player and it is accepted but the CD never begins to play and I cannot get to the CD player mode. Please Help!? Thanks.

    then it is defective, send it to pioneer for repair.

You have to hold src button until unit turns off. Then hold center control until a menu pops up. This menu has a demo setting. Turn that to off.

I have a pioneer DEH P7400MP deck and everything still works great except the display will not light up. It just quit working, not to big a deal but i cant see anything. The problem was gradual at first...
it could be bad solder connections inside of the deck, a bad power supply for the display, or the display itself may be bad.
