Dell 924 printer. Stopped working - when try to

Dell 924 printer. Stopped working - when try to print either nothing happens or receive message stating PC can't communicate with printer. Have checked cables. Uninstalled and re-installed. On re-installing seems not to be able to download USB composite device. Have tried with other computers - same problem.

The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

Cable Issue: It could be a possible issue with the cable. Try replacing the USB cable.
Drivers Issue: Try uninstalling the printer drivers using the utility http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R166248.zip .Then install the drivers from the support website. Use the link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A924. Also DO NOT forget to update your computer's chipset drivers before this.
UAC issue: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, a feature called User Access Control (UAC) would block the printer communication. Disable it, and it should work. Use the link http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm for tips on how to disable UAC.
Print Spooler Service Error: Either the service is stopped or not started correctly. Try restarting the printer spooler services on your computer. For tips on how to restart the Print Spooler service, use the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2319117_restart-print-spooler-xp.html
Firewall Issue: Maybe your firewall is blocking the connection to your printer. Try allowing access to all applications related to Dell or printer or communication systems under Program Permissions in your Firewall program.

I would like to know the PC Operating System, is it XP or Vista ?

If this is XP there is a Print Spooler Reset which you can try
Uninstalling Printer s/w may not help here

On this website you will find the FIXIT - download and run the Fixit

Follow the instructions and click on RESET PRINT SPOOLER and continue till it prompts you to restart the PC

Once the PC is restarted and you see the Desktop - Disconnect the Printer USB Cable from Printer or PC and connect it back. it will install the Printer Drivers or prompt you to insert the disk to install..

you will be able to print without problems.

The lights on the printer have stopped working.All cables are connected and alive.I have tried to print and the message coming back to me is that the printer is busy which it is not.

Try un-plugging everything from the printer then re-connect it all back in the correct places.

I had a problem with my dell all-in-one photo 924 printer. I decided to delete the Dell AIO 924 driver to fix the problems with printing the docs by getting error message, ? communication not available?...

The problem could be because of ONE out of FIVE problems listed below. Try the steps recommended and it should fix the problem.

Cable Issue: It could be a possible issue with the cable. Try replacing the USB cable.

Dell all in one 924 printer will not print from internet

If its only a problem while printing from the internet webpages, I think it would be an issue with your browser.Try using a different browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. You can also try resetting your IE settings, delete temporary files and cookies, try reinstalling the printer again. If nothing works, look for program permissions under your Firewall program and ensure that anything related to Printer Communication System is whitelisted.

My Dell 924 sounds like it printing, but when the paper comes out nothing printed. I have bought new cartridges recently, still nothing. If I print an alignment sheet inks will show for that,but nothing...

When I hit 'file' then 'print' nothing happens

Go to your device manager and make sure that you have a driver for the printer. Or uninstall the printer then reinstall it. sounds like the printer driver has been deleted

924 message "printer is busy"

Take out the cartridges
disconnect printer from computer
Turn off the printer

On the computer cancel documents in queue
if using a straight USB connection, delete all instances of printer. else remove duplicate printer icons.
reboot.

Reconnect printer (swap cables if not detected)
Insert the cartriges

Try printing again

Installing ink cartridge

I've had this problem too. The only way to make the message go away is to buy the ink from Dell. Although generic ink cartriges will work the printer will not/can not reset the "low ink" message unless you buy the cartriges directly from Dell. So you can use another brand, but you'll just have to overide the low ink message when it pops up by telling it to continue printing. Then you can tell when the ink is low by seeing it when it prints out.

GG88 your need to lubricate carrier bar inside printer rub your finger along the length of the bar if if feels dry apply two to three drops of 3in 1 oil to the bar with power off after lubricating the bar turn back on and happy printing

this is routine maintenace once a year
