I have the same problem with my Lexmark X6150. At first I thought the cartridges had dried out due to lack of use (I had not used the printer for some months). Two replacement cartridges arrived but the black cartridge was in poor condition so when the colour cartridge printed but the black didn't I received an exchange. However, although the paper goes through as though it is printing, the latest black cartridge, like the old, doesn't print, yet the colour is still ok.

turn off printer, remove cartridges (color--there are two cartridges to install , color and black )
make sure the peel off tabs have been removed from the cartridges and re-install accordingly
if this issue persists, go to this link below-- call Lexmark support (phone # on left bottom) , then select their support by - selecting ASSISTED SERVICE (on left)
It could be that your black cartridge needs cleaning or is not properly seated in the carrier. Open the printer cover and reseat the black cartridge. Close the printer cover. Open Lexmark Solution Center on your computer. Go to Maintenance tab and select Clean to fix horizontal lines. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the nozzles and clean them.
There is nothing wroung with refilling but there is something wroung with the cartridge if it does not print. You might have ran out of refill cycles on that particular cartridge and not even know about the cycle requirments for lexmark printers. Your issue could be resolved by purchasing a new cartridge fixing the old one is not going to cut it.
Thanks and please do rate your experience with my solution.
Try cleaning the contact points of the cartridge itself and the unit that holds the cartridge with alchol. If still not printing try nossle cleaning from your printer properties.
Is it a new cartridge? If the cartridge has been sitting a while it can get clogged. Try using a moist paper towel and gently wiping the cartridge where the ink comes out. You could also try running the Lexmark Solutions Center program and use the clean nozzles option to force it to squirt out some black ink.
