It is possible that the jack behind the laptop where the power cord plugs into may have broekn loose from its solder that holds it in place on the laptop motherboard. Inspect the connection to make sure there is a secure and tight connection. If there is significant "wobble" after you plug in the power cord to the back of the laptop, you need to get the power jack re-soldered onto the laptop motherboard, otherwise a short may be occuring everytime you plug the power cord into the laptop thus causing your power supply light to go off.

My toshiba satilite L305D-S5940 Wont charge has new battery new power cord It comes on acts like its going to work then shuts off and sometimes wont come on What could it be please

Hi there,
1st : you can check from the power cable charge
2nd : check the adaptor charger if there is a light indicator or not, or you can check with multimeter to check the voltage on charger adaptor, does show the proper voltage for your laptop, you can check at the end of the connection that leads to the laptop.
note : Remember use DC current at Multimeter
3rd : if the adaptor running well, just plug on the adaptor charger to the laptop, dont turn on the laptop power, just see the light indicator with battery / lightning image on laptop, its explained that there is or is not the power current running to the laptop.
3rd.A : if its no power goes to the laptop then your adaptor charger is failed
3rd.B : if is there, there must be a problem with your motherboard, section power / power plugs, why do not want to charge with a new battery.
Conclusion :
- if the problem on number 1 & 2, then you can change the power cord and the adaptor charger.
- if there is problem on the 3rd.B then you can go to the toshiba services center for your problem.

thats all, hope its help.

Toshiba Satellite L655 Not Switching on

You mentioned that it won't turn on with the charger (without the battery). Does this mean that it turns on if the battery is in?

If it turns on with the battery, then you need to replace your AC adapter.

I have a Toshiba PSAF3U-0NR00V, every time i plug the charger to the laptop it goes off, but comes on without the charger, it would charge the laptop, when it's turned off but if i try turning it on...

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I had same problem with my Sattelite L300. Motherboard has a defect in one Proadlizer film capacitor exactly on the back of CPU, the original ref. is nec-tokin 0E907 (900uF/2.5V) or similar code. I've replaced it by 4 tantalum capacitores of 470uF/2.5V each and 2 capacitores of 220uF/2.5V, all in paralell mode in same old place of nec-tokin component.

This is a problem with your charger, I had the problem with my toshiba Sattelite, it was either a break in the wire or a short in the brick. You need to purchase a new charger.

Toshiba Satellite A305D-S6848 HAS NO POWER. NO LIGHTS COME ON AND I PLUGGED THE POWER CORD INTO ANOTHER TOSHIBA AND IT WORKS. NOT A POWER CORD PROBLEM. NO FANS RUN OR ANYTHING WHEN I HIT THE POWER BUTTON....

TRY TO REMOVE THE BATTERY AND JUST PLUG THE CHARGER ON IT AND ON POWER. SWITCH IT ON. IF IT TURNS ON THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU NEED A NEW BATTERY OR IF IT DOES NOT, TAKE IT TO A COMPUTER SPECIALIST TO CHECK ANY HARDWARES THAT ARE NOT FUNCTIONING.

THANK YOU
