Does the laptop power on at all? Im assuming it will not charge. This could be a faulty charger or an issue with the charge port inside your laptop. See if you can borrow a charger from someone. If your problem still persists I would recommend buying a new charge port for it.

Hard to type a sound, huh?

1) Could be the Harddrive.
Metallic sound. Sounds like something scraping on a disk.

2) Could be the Processor.
Believe it or not, (No. This ain't Ripley's), the processor will make a sound when it's dying.
Usually a song though. Like - Taps, or Brahms Lullaby.

(Go to sleep, go to sleep........go to sleep little processor, lol!)

3) Could be 'dust bunnies' on the Fan Assembly,

So...........shall we begin again, and perhaps you can get closer to the laptop; and see if you can pinpoint the sound down a little better?

Post back in a Comment.

These days, laptop computers, like the Toshiba A305, are designed so that many of the components can be removed and replaced.

This includes the keyboard, which can be removed even if it becomes broken or damaged. This is good because it means you don't need to toss out the whole computer, but you may be worried about how to do it if you don't know much about computers.

The good news is that the process is fairly straightforward.

Turn off your Toshiba laptop and remove the power cable if it is attached.

Close the screen and turn your computer upside down.

Slide the rectangular battery out of its compartment on the underside of the computer.

Turn the keyboard right-side up and open the screen so you have full access to the keyboard. Locate the rectangular plastic frame just above the keyboard.

Insert the top of your screwdriver in the seam at the end of the frame where it meets the side of the computer, and gently pry the frame up.

Remove it from the computer.

Remove the two screws above the keyboard and set them aside.

Lift the keyboard up and unplug the thick ribbon cable where it connects at the back of the keyboard. Set the old keyboard aside.

Plug the cable into the port in the back of the new keyboard and fit the keyboard over the computer.

Replace the screws and bezel, and you're finished.

Hope this helps

Remove main battery and try again, next! sub out the ram memory one at a time while trying to power up, still nothing! have the power supply adapter checked that it is working, if okay! the mother board has issues and will need to be assessed.

I. Reinstall the driver:
Right click on My Computer (XP)/Computer (Vista) icon on the Desktop, click on Properties, the on Devices, then in the devices list look for your camera (you might have to open the branches to see it). You may find it under a branch named ‘Image Processing Devices’ or something similar (I don’t know the exact wording, because my system is not English).
Select your camera entry and then double click on it. Under the Driver tab, select Update driver and choose Reinstall Driver and then the second option ‘Look for Device Software in the Computer”.

II. If that doesn't solve your problem, download and install the most update driver from TOSHIBA support pages:
  1. Start here: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z465.exe
  2. Click on 'Download'
  3. Select your product Category (Laptops), Family (Satellite) and Model (A305D-S6848) and press GO
  4. Refine your search by selecting your computer system OS and by selecting 'Multimedia' in the Category list box.
  5. Download the camera utility.
  6. Install it

I know this is an old post, but just in case others are having webcam problems with their a305d webcam... There is a problem with many a305d satellite web cams, the cable/wires that connect the webcam to the motherboard are weak and badly routed. They usually fail due to fatigue at the hinge where it flexes/bends every time the lid is opened/closed. The first symptom usually comes in the form of random Windows USB connected/disconnected sound notifications when the lid/screen is moved. The second is a random USB device not recognized error. Finally, when the cable totally fails, you get a camera driver not loaded error. I've seen bunches of these units with this problem and usually repair it by cutting and removing the section of cable at the aforementioned bend in the hinge area, then soldering and heat shrinking the repair. I then reroute the now shorter cable behind the monitor rather than around it. I do this because it's easier and cheaper than sourcing a new cable and allows a faster turnaround time.

  • So, even tho the OP attributed their problem to software, it may not be the actual problem at all. You see, most of the time users blame a newly discovered problem on the last major system event (software or hardware installation, removal or failure). It is a good place to start after all and many times they're right, but just as often they only noticed the problem after the event and the event has nothing to do with actual problem at all. As a tech I see this all the time.

Laptops are branded computers. The software and driver for the built-in webcam that you might have installed are not compatible with Windows 7. Both might have been installed and recognized by Windows 7 but with limited functionality. I suggest, you to contact your computer's manufacturer and ask for the *brand/model of the webcam (*not mentioned in the computer manufacturer's website). Then, visit the webcam's website or contact the webcam's manufacturer for the appropriate windows 7 software and driver.

This is your computer manufacturer's contact details.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

first way:
1- evolve the battery of your laptop.
2- wait 10 minutes.
3- assemble the battery again and turn on the laptop.
second way:
change the battery with a valid one.

if above ways didn't work:
take the laptop to a guarantee center.(there is a problem with "electrification center" of laptop)

Since this is a laptop you won't be able to change the video card physically like the desktop computers. This Toshiba model has an ATI Radeon TM X1250 128MB-831MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. So that means by default it can provide a 128MB of graphics power, but if you increase the size of the memory you can also get up to 831MB of graphics memory therefore increasing or upgrading the available video memory of your laptop.

It's either the lcd itself the the lcd cable has become loose, either way you're going to need to take the lcd housing apart to make sure the cable is nice and secure (both ends - 1 to lcd itself, 2 to motherboard)

If the cable is nice and tight and you get the same results then for sure the lcd needs to be swapped out.
