Cha-Ching!! All you gotta to do is (the 6 most ill fated words in the computer world, plumbing repair and home remodeling) install a small driver called SDHC.cab and your Axim will see the light of the SDHC SD card! Just copy it to your SD card, then open it through File Explorer on your device. Follow the directions and if it gives you the choice (can't remember) of Device or Storage Card, select "Device" - it needs to be on... the device. I got mine from Mobilitysite, HTCgeeks, xda-developers is a great site too. Make sure you get a newer one though. Some of the earlier ones were buggy. Mine sees up to 8gig which is the ceiling due to hardware constraints. Like hornontario suggested, 6.x ROM upgrade works too (back up EVERYTHING on the device first!!) and is well worth the effort for that and to fix a bunch of the cr@p Microsoft let go out in Windows Mobile 5.0 [read: Windows Mobile 6 beta Lite Special Edition...]!!! Much more stable, better start menu interface, etc. LennySH L14 (6.1) is AAAAWWWSSSOOOMMMEEE! Haven't tried his 6.5 yet.

Can I use Standard 4G or 8G SD or Cf cards in a Dell Axim X5?

SD cards must be SD not SDHC, there is not an SDHC driver for the X5. You can find regular SD cards up to 4G.

CF is no problem, all flash based CF cards will work. Microdrives can be problematic.
