After going through all of epson's troubleshooting procedures i still only get blank pages from my stylus cx4600. my printer sat for several months only printing occasional pc-free copies. after getting a new computer (windows vista) and installing correct drivers, i've tried printing test pages, running the printer head cleaning program, and have replaced the ink cartridges all according to the the manual and the epson website. nothing ever prints on the paper that comes out. the printer maintenance utility tells me the ink levels are getting lower after i perform all of the maintenance checks, but obviously no ink is being used. the unit can still scan documents and pictures that open on my pc with no trouble. but only blank sheets come out whether the printer is connected to the pc or not. is there anything i can physically do to the unit to fix this problem?
The print head, which is integrated into the machine, is dried and clogged. You probably could have guessed that. If you and cautious and daring you can attempt the disassembly of your machine to extract the print head. Be very careful and remember where everything goes and in what order. Anything you de-grease, re-grease. The print head is the component that your printer cartridges hook into. Once out the bottom side will look like a large gray square. The best you can do at home is to set in on a folded paper towel thoroughly dampened with distilled water. Let this sit over night in an area that seeping ink will not damage anything, i.e. on a plastic disposable plate. If in the morning you see the four colors flowing you may have success upon reassembly. The worst you can do here is not get it back together and then you're at the same place you are now. Good luck, email with questions.
