The superior side of my 17" AL 1716 after some hours of use becomes "marked" with the previous screen. Usually, this happens with programs such as browsers or MS office that have a static superior bar. When I minimize, change the screen or start other programs, is visible that bar is still there in a whitish blured stile.

I've tried to reinstall the driver of the monitor but it didn't change nothing..

Hi mcuyg,

Hope this will give you hint in solving this problem. Try configuring monitor settings in OSD mode; contrast; brightness; etc.. other special settings can be accessed using combination of buttons to minimize the raster intensity. On hardware side try resoldering cold soldered points and check the SMPS side.

Best regards,

your welcome. have you also try setting the video properties in operating system control panel and set to higher resolution and color quality and select other frequency rating. l met this problem before, lcd on Asus desknote by setting then it works fine. If the problem persist there something wrong with the video processor circuit. Have a nice day!

Snowey on scrreen

Hi there,

I've been repairing TV's for over 15 years and I would say either a bad Tcon's or main board issue. Theirs no need to replace capacitors these days, you can get the main board from $40-60.
Have you tried using different devices on the unit? If your getting a snowy picture on a satellite receiver, check with your provider for troubleshooting guide their unit. Or let me know the provider and I can lead in you right direction.

Thanks,
Jason

Snowy screen

Hello try to renew the graphic driver from here:

http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3658

If the driver does not help, the screen must be renewed.

A pc repair shop can help you with that.

Good luck

HP pavillion dv9000 has black horizontal lines across screen and looks like a snowy background

Sounds like the screen is going bad. Isolate the problem by plugging an external monitor to the laptop. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker to plug to the laptop. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If the Borrowed monitor does not show the black lines and snowy background, that proves your video card is ok and the problem is your lcd screen. If the borrowed monitor shows the same black lines ans snowy background it means your video card inside the computer has the issue.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

NEC 17"1700M Works fine most

Either an overheating video-card, or a loose connection between the video-card and the monitor.

Radiation lines scroll on monitor screen

Check and jiggle (yes, that's the technical term) the monitor cable at both ends to make sure the connection is tight. If this doesn't help, borrow a cable from another computer (or a friend) that you know works, and use that to connect the monitor to the computer. If the picture is no longer snowy, you have a bad cable; buy a replacement one from any number of dealers (I recommend http://www.discountcablestore.com/, they're just about the best prices anywhere, but if you don't feel comfortable ordering online, any store with an electronics department should have one.)
If it is still snowy, try plugging your computer into a different monitor and see if the picture is still snowy. If it isn't, then your monitor has probably gone bad; check it's warranty, and consider buying a replacement.
If it is still snowy, post back here with the name of your graphics card (in Windows, this can be found by pressing the Windows key and the R key at the same time, then typing in 'dxdiag' without the quotes, hitting Enter or OK, and looking at the 'Display' tab of the window that opens. If a warning message shows up about it being run for the first time, click OK or Yes.).
Good luck!
