They probably never updated the bios, and it's still looking for the old drive, if you get into the bios, you can remove that drive that it's searching for and then make sure that the new drive is being recognised at the 0 position, not 1 but zero, if that doesn't fix it we can go further but that mnmay be the problem, also go into your device manager and make sure you remove the old drive if it's still showing that it is in there. Just uninstall it and restart. the cmos settings should also be cleared by removing the plug and poping out the battery, on the motherboard, it looks like a quarter, it may stll have the old settings stoed in there Good luck, and let us know if it worked

I use gparted tool to find it. Once you boot from the CD (with the .iso of gparted on it), you can access the tool to find the cylinder by right-clicking on the desk and select ???? sorry, I'm not sure about the name of the tool. So go to gparted.com and download the program. If you need more help, let me know.

Have them check the video card, That's probably why the weird colours are popping up.

I had the same problem, took it to Apple store, they suggested I trade it in for a new one. With no other options, I opened up the ipod and found that the hard drive off center. I popped it back into place and it worked like normal after that. Opening your ipod will void the warranty. Hope this helps.

sounds like hd is getting hot via firewire try and use the usb lead if same problem then get your files off quick and repace drive any thing above 80 gig will get hot in use that's why I use harddrive coolers on my large 300gig 400gig internal and only use my 250 gigs and 160 gig only when i need the files off they are turned off all time
